British SUV-maker recalls over 4000 vehicles to fix rear door latches; more than 200 Range Rovers also hit by faulty tail-lights
Jaguar Land Rover Australia has issued a nationwide product safety recall for more than 4000 examples of the Land Rover Discovery due to the potential for their rear doors to inadvertently open while driving.
A total of 4084 current (third-generation L462-series) Discovery SUVs are involved in the recall, all built between 2016 and 2020.
According to the British manufacturer, water may enter the rear passenger door latches, which over time may cause corrosion in the return spring.

“As a result, the doors may not latch whilst in the closed position and the hazard warning light may not display on the instrument cluster as intended. If the rear passenger’s door does not latch as intended, it could open whilst the vehicle is in motion,” said JLR in its safety recall notice.
Affected owners will be contacted by Jaguar Land Rover to have their vehicle inspected and repaired free of charge if necessary. Visit the federal government’s Vehicle Recalls website to read the recall notice and check if your vehicle is involved.
In a separate recall also issued today, the British marque has also recalled its flagship Range Rover due to potentially faulty tail-lights that could affect 206 examples of the full-size luxury SUV.
All variants of the previous (fourth) generation Range Rover (L405) built between 2020 and 2022 are affected by the manufacturing issue, says JLR.

“Due to a manufacturing defect, the rear tail lamps wiring harness may become lodged between the vehicle body and a foam block. If this occurs, the rear tail lamp may not illuminate as intended.”
This will reduce the visibility of the big SUV for following traffic, says JLR, increasing the risk of an accident causing serious injury or death to vehicle occupants and/or other road users.
