Although Land Rover is a luxury brand that’s pretty popular with many consumers, Land Rover cars haven’t received excellent ratings from Consumer Reports. With that being said, it’s not all bad news for the luxury automaker, as there is a single luxury car that’s received a worse rating. Here’s a look at some of the poorly-rated Land Rovers and why the Tesla Model X is rated worse than them.

One of the worst-rated cars in Land Rover’s lineup is the Land Rover Discovery Sport, according to Consumer Reports. It has an overall score of 44 out of 100, which made it tied for the worst car in its segment. This mediocre score resulted from the Discovery Sport receiving bad or average scores in the three relevant categories. In the road test category, the Discovery Sport only received a 58 out of 100.
Regarding its predicted reliability rating and its owner satisfaction rating, the Land Rover only got a 2 out of 5 in both categories. Interestingly enough, the Range Rover Evoque, also a luxury compact SUV, received identical scores as the Discovery Sport.
The Land Rover Range Rover Evoque received a 58 out of 100 on its road test, a 2 out of 5 on its predicted reliability rating, and a 2 out of 5 on its predicted owner satisfaction rating. As a result, the Range Rover Evoque also received an overall score of 44 out of 100. Due to that, the Range Rover Evoque is tied with the Discovery Sport for last place in the segment.
The 2022 Tesla Model X has a worse score than those Land Rovers
While those are some pretty low scores for a Land Rover, one luxury car has received a worse review from Consumer Reports. That car is, of course, the Tesla Model X. This shouldn’t be too surprising, as the Model X has a history of being poorly rated. This Tesla SUV currently has an overall score of 41 out of 100.
That low overall score is primarily due to the Model X’s predicted reliability rating, which is currently sitting at a mere 1 out of 5. However, its predicted owner satisfaction rating is much higher, at a 4 out of 5. To cap things off, the Model X’s road-test score was also much higher, at 72 out of 100. While the Model X’s poor reliability history ultimately sank its overall score, the Model X isn’t recommended for many other reasons, too.
Why the 2022 Tesla Model X is rated so poorly
Some of those reasons are more significant than others, but they’ll all affect folks one way or another. For example, the Tesla Model X doesn’t currently have Apple CarPlay or Android Auto compatibility, and it also doesn’t have a “proper” blind-spot warning system. Plus, Consumer Reports said that the Model X’s controls were distracting.
Its falcon-wing doors also have a few issues, such as taking a long time to open. Consumer Reports also mentioned some reliability concerns relating to those falcon-wing doors. On top of that, while the Model X is a luxury SUV, it’s not the most comfortable car to be in. It has a “stiff ride” and a “pronounced wind noise” inside the cabin. Another issue is its cargo capacity, as the Model X doesn’t have much cargo capacity for an SUV.
