Maserati is showcasing the future convertible version of the two-seater MC20 sports vehicle for the first time. Even at the unveiling of the Maserati MC20 coupé, the Italians made it apparent that the coupe will be joined by a convertible.
It’s also safe to assume that the 2.9-liter twin-turbo V6 will be joined by an all-electric option. The Italians have now released factory Erlkönig images that give a first look at the future open two-seater.
Hardtop that folds is more likely.
They do not, however, show exactly what you are looking for in the MC20 Convertible. The top that converts. Its structure is obscured by the camouflage material that gives it a cloudy appearance. A folding hardtop, with the roof half disappearing behind the occupants beneath a permanent cover, is feasible and likely.
The side panels behind the doors are clearly fastened and do not suit a pure cloth hood.
The crucial data that the coupé already gives, on the other hand, also applies to the MC20 convertible. The almost 4.70 meter long two-seater is powered by a 2.9-liter V6 biturbo engine with 630 horsepower and 730 Nm of torque, which drives the rear wheels via an eight-speed dual clutch gearbox.
A CFRP monocoque encases the body, which is comprised of composite materials and carbon fiber and should be strong enough for usage in a convertible. The coupe has a top speed of 325 km/h, while the convertible should be somewhat slower. The open MC20 will almost definitely cost more than the coupé’s 210,000 euros.
Maserati is offering a convertible version of the MC20 Coupé. The open two-seater is now being shown for the first time by the Italians.
The technology used should be the same. The convertible top is most likely based on a hardtop that can be folded.
