The MC Edition celebrates the company’s racing legacy with a special trim destined just for V8-powered cars in Maserati’s range
To celebrate Maserati’s rich racing history, the Italian company is launching a new MC Edition trim that will bring extra specification to the V8 versions of its Ghibli, Quattroporte and Levante models.
MC Edition cars will gain piano black trim, blue brake calipers and exclusive badgework. Two specific paint finishes will be available – Giallo Corse and Blue Vittoria – which were picked to represent the colours of Modena.
Gloss-black alloy wheels are also part of the MC Edition pack, which measure 22-inches for the Levante SUV and 21-inches for the Ghibli and Quattroporte sedans. An electric sunroof rounds out the exterior extras.
The Levante will be one of three models to get the MC Edition treatment
Inside, Maseratis that have the MC Edition treatment will include a Bowers & Wilkins surround-sound system, blue carbon-fibre trim and a full driver-assistance package.
Pricing for the MC Edition has not yet been revealed, however you can order the trim level now in Australia for a second quarter 2022 release.
What will power the MC Edition cars?
If you were interested in buying a lower spec ‘base’ Maserati with the MC Edition, unfortunately you won’t be able to. The MC Edition Maseratis will all be powered by a V8 engine, in this case a 3.8-litre twin-turbocharged unit with outputs of 432kW and 730Nm, putting the MC Edition rather high in the family of trim options.
Denim and leather mixed seat trim spices up the interior
The 3.8-litre twin-turbo V8 has enough power to propel the quickest model in the Maserati stable – the Ghibli MC Edition sedan – to 100km/h in 4.3 seconds. The Ghibli is capable of a top speed of 326km/h.
What grades are currently available in Australia?
Four trim levels are currently available for Maserati models in Australia – GT, Modena, Modena S and Trofeo – making the MC Edition the fifth in the line-up, as it will act as a special addition to Trofeo V8 models.
Only V8-powered Maseratis will be able to be specced with the MC Edition pack
The range begins with the GT which includes a hybrid four-cylinder powertrain producing 246kW of power and 450Nm of torque for Ghibli and Levante models.
Stepping up into the Modena introduces a twin-turbocharged V6 engine producing 260kW/500Nm, while the S gets 320kW/580Nm. The top-spec Trofeo uses a twin-turbo V8 pushing out 432kW/730Nm. All three of these grades are available on all models – Levante, Ghibli and Quattroporte.
