Maserati, as a car company, can trace its roots back to 1914, when the four Maserati brothers founded the company. They quickly made a name for themselves by building some of the fastest and most successful racing cars at the time.

In 1926, Maserati began building road cars in addition to racing cars. That helped cement the brand as one of the premier auto manufacturers in the world. In its 107-year history, Maserati has created some of the most successful racing cars of all time, as well as some of the most lust-worthy sports and GT cars.

Today, Maserati is a part of the massive Stellantis automotive group and sells high-end performance sedans and SUVs. They are a small manufacturer and build a small number of cars each year. If you’re curious about the brand and want to know what they offer, here is a brief rundown of every model you can buy in 2022.

2022 Maserati Ghibli

Maserati Ghibli sedan | Maserati

Maserati has traditionally named their cars after exotic winds. The Ghibli sedan follows that convention and gets its name from the Libyan desert’s hot, dry south-westerly wind.

The Ghibli comes in four trims starting with the GT ($78,000), the Modena ($82,700), the Modena Q4 ($85,300), and the top-of-the-line Trofeo ($112,700). The GT, Modena, and Modena GT have a 3.0-liter twin-turbocharged V6 that produces 345 horsepower in the GT and 424 horsepower in the Modena and Modena Q4. The Trofeo trim gives you a 3.8-liter twin-turbocharged Ferrari-derived V8 with 580 horsepower and a top speed of 203 mph.

The Modena Q4 trim adds all-wheel drive and the other trims are exclusively rear-wheel drive.

Luxury abounds, and the interior has an old-school cool about it. Analog gauges combine with a 10.1-inch touchscreen and copious amounts of carbon fiber in the Trofeo trim.

2022 Maserati Levante

Maserati (@Maserati_HQ) February 10, 2022

Levante is the name of the warm, easterly wind that blows from southern France to the Strait of Gibraltar in the Mediterranean Sea. In 2022, the Levante is the only SUV made by Maserati, and it shares a platform with the Ghibli and Quattroporte. Thanks to being a part of the Stellantis Group, the Levante also shares a few components with the Jeep Grand Cherokee. Owners of the Jeep will undoubtedly recognize some of the switches and buttons in the Levante.

Like the Ghibli, four trims are available. The GT ($81,200) is the base model followed by the Modena ($92,200), Modena S ($117,500) and the Trofeo ($155,200). The GT and Modena trims have the familiar 3.0-liter twin-turbocharged V6 and produce 345 and 424 horsepower, respectively. The Modena S and Trofeo trims get the 3.8-liter twin-turbocharged V8 with 550 and 580 horsepower, respectively. All trims have standard all-wheel drive.

Compared to other SUVs, the Levante is built and designed for spirited driving. The ergonomics, driving position, and performance favor those who enjoy a good twisty road. Despite the Jeep switch-gear, the Levante has style and presence that other SUVs can’t match in this class.

2022 Maserati Quattroporte

autos, cars, maserati, ghibli, levante, maserati is the luxury brand you forgot about, here is everything they offer in 2022

Maserati Quattroportte | Maserati

Unlike the Ghibli and Levante, the Quattroporte is not named after an exotic wind. In fact, Quattroporte means “four-door.” Despite the unimaginative name, the Quattroporte is a stunning full-size luxury performance sedan.

Four trims are available and follow the same formula as the Ghibli. The GT ($98,400), the Modena ($108,200), the Modena Q4 ($112,700), and the top-of-the-line Trofeo ($145,900). The GT, Modena, and Modena GT have the 3.0-liter twin-turbocharged V6 that produces 345 horsepower in the GT and 424 horsepower in the Modena and Modena Q4. The Trofeo trim gives you a 3.8-liter twin-turbocharged Ferrari-derived V8 with 580 horsepower. Because the Quattroporte is bigger than the Ghibli, acceleration is slower but only by a few tenths of a second.

Premium materials, luxury, and performance come standard on the Quattroporte. Nothing on the road looks like the big Maserati. And driving one is the equivalent of wearing a well-tailored Armani suit. You are going to look and feel like a million bucks when you get behind the wheel.

2022 Maserati MC20

The MC20 is Maserati’s newest car and their only true sports car on offer. Powered by a 621 horsepower 3.0-liter twin-turbocharged V6, Maserati claims a 0 to 60 mph time of under 2.9 seconds and a top speed of greater than 202 mph.

The MC20 is also nearly infinitely customizable, with colors, options, and personalization that makes every car unique. As you would expect, there is a lot of carbon fiber, and the interior pairs high-tech features with Italian style.

Prices start at $215,995 and go up from there depending on how you spec it. The first production run has already sold out, so if you have a need for a new MC20, you might be out of luck.

Should you consider a Maserati for your next car?

The simple answer is yes. The single best thing about a Maserati is that it is not a BMW, Mercedes, or Audi. They are stylish, unique, and thanks to a relationship with Ferrari, have some of the best engines on the market.

However, it is important to remember that these are low-production high-performance Italian cars. Expect maintenance and insurance costs to be high. Reliability has never been a strong suit of Italian vehicles, and Maseratis, in general, suffer in this department. But when your super-sedan or SUV is working, nothing will make you feel as good or put as big a smile on your face.

For the simple reason that a Maserati makes you feel good, it should be on your list of contenders if you are shopping for a high-end luxury car.
