Land Rover has ditched the old diesel engines from the Discovery Sport and Evoque and replaced them with greener mild hybrid diesels, as well as introduced the latest Pivi Pro infotainment system across the range. The Evoque also has a new range-topping Autobiography trim level, while the Discovery Sport also gets a new petrol engine exclusive to a new Black Edition trim level.
The new diesel engines are 2-litre four-cylinder units, mated to a 48v motor capable of being charged via a regenerative braking system. The entry level D165 produces 161bhp and emits 156g/km CO2 in the Evoque and 163g/km in the bigger Discovery Sport. The D200 version produces 201bhp and can only be optioned with four-wheel drive models, emitting 170g/km.
The Discovery Sport also gets the P290 petrol: a 2-litre turbocharged four-cylinder producing 286bhp and capable of a 0-62mph time of 7.4 seconds. It’s only available in the new Black Edition trim which also comes with 20inch wheels, as well as a unique colour scheme.
A new Autobiography trim for the Evoque comes with 21inch wheels, a copper-accented paint scheme and quilted upholstery, as well as a heated steering wheel and panoramic roof. The latest Pivi Pro infotainment system, already found in the Land Rover Defender, has been added across the range, which offers better connectivity and hosts a new 3D surround camera.
