Fiat is unveiling its new Ford Focus-rivalling Tipo family car line-up at the Geneva Motor Show, and confirming that both the five-door hatchback and estate will go on UK sale.
However the brand is yet to confirm whether the saloon version, unveiled at the 2015 Geneva show, will be offered to British buyers.
The new Tipo line-up is being pitched on its space, Fiat claiming class-leading legroom and bootspace for the cars, while also promising long specifications, quality and efficiency.
“All (will be) stylishly packaged with a degree of Italian flair that belies its impressive affordability,” Fiat adds, while not confirming yet any UK pricing for the Tipo.
The Tipo hatch measures 4370mm long, with a 1790mm width and 1500mm height, with a boot capacity of 440 litres. The estate is 200mm longer, which adds an extra 110 litres to the boot while allowing the carrying of items measuring up to 1800mm long. Standard-fit roof bars add an extra 10mm of height.
Tipo engine options will number five. There are two turbo diesel units – a 1.3-litre MultiJet II of 94bhp and 148lbft of torque and a 1.6-litre MultiJet II of 118bhp and 236lbft.
The petrol trio comprises a 1.4-litre 16V of 94bhp and 92lbft, a turbocharged 1.4 with 118bhp and 152lbft and the 1.6-litre e-TorQ engine which produces 109bhp and 112lbft, and is combined exclusively with a six-speed, torque converter automatic transmission.
UK on-sale date is in September 2016, and three trim levels will be available, standard equipment including air conditioning, remote central locking, rear electric windows (estate only), electric mirrors, six airbags, DAB digital radio and Bluetooth connectivity with steering wheel remote controls.
