The Mazda 2 has received a major update in South Africa, adding new features and styling elements while simplifying its line-up.
The hatchback now comprises four units spread across three trim levels, with prices ranging from R307,100 to R398,700.
All versions of the facelifted Mazda are powered by the same 1.5-litre petrol engine, which generates a total of 85kW and 148Nm, and for the gearbox, buyers have a choice of a six-speed manual or automatic, which net a fuel consumption return of 5.7l/100km or 6.0l/100km, respectively.
The Mazda can also reach 100km/h in roughly 9.6 seconds abd continue on to a top speed of 186km/h.
Looking at its features, standard equipment now includes LED headlights, 15-inch steel wheels, front and rear powered windows, a radio with Bluetooth, four speakers, a USB port, keyless entry and start, manual air conditioning, cloth seats, a multifunction steering wheel, and two airbags.
Moving up to the higher tiers adds 16-inch alloys, four additional speakers and airbags, a 7-inch infotainment screen operated via a central dial, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, cruise control, a leather steering wheel, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, electric side mirrors, leather upholstery, a reverse camera, a wireless charger, automatic headlights, a heads-up display, auto-folding side mirrors, rear parking sensors, rain-sensing wipers, paddle shifters, and a two-tone roof.
