Was it accidental, or was it done on purpose? Either way, here's the new Fiat 600e before you're supposed to see it.
We've finally seen the upcoming Fiat 600e uncovered, as the company low-key revealed it in a video it made for an event called “Not Alone” held two days ago in St. Peter's Square in Rome. In the video, you see people from all over the world getting picked up in the 600e, where it serves as a background character. Regardless, we are treated with full views of the vehicle's interior and exterior, with it looking like a good step up from the 500X that it will effectively replace.
The description of the event says, “Let's open the door, the door of our homes, the door of our hearts, and let others enter and feel at ease, free. We are all different, with different cultures and religions, but we are all brothers and sisters, and we want to live in peace.” In a video about bringing people together, it's clever marketing to make your new electric car the vehicle that accomplishes it.

The SUV was caught testing only a couple of months ago for the first time, though the one caught is believed to have been an ICE version of the car due to the lack of electric warning labels. We imagine Fiat will release the model in ICE and electric versions, and it's going to be one of two electric models the company will debut this year.
Visually, the 600e isn't a huge departure from the 500X, with the same general shape and design cues, but it is a completely new animal sitting on the STLA Small architecture with vehicles like the Jeep Avenger and an unnamed Alfa Romeo model coming soon. The name 600 is positioned prominently on the front, but we think a little more could have been done to show this is the 600e. The 600 name is also seen on the sides and potentially back, with only the rear featuring a Fiat badge.

The front fascia is basically just the 500e but larger and with an extra vent here and there. We have no complaints there because it's a good continuation of Fiat's design language looking modern but keeping the important retro touches like the new take on the circular headlights.
We get glimpses of the interior where you can see the 600e looks similar to the Jeep Avenger. This means you get a decent-sized floating touchscreen with actual buttons underneath the control important things like climate control and hopefully volume too. You also get a digital, circular instrument cluster.

We don't know any of the specs of the vehicle yet, although we assume it will also use the same 400v front-mounted motor as the Avenger, meaning 154 horsepower and 192 lb-ft of torque, which should be good enough for most driving conditions. It should also receive a 54 kWh battery pack with a range around over 200 miles. The ICE version will most likely get the same 1.2-liter three-cylinder turbo engine producing just 100 hp.
The real question is will we see it stateside? We say the odds are pretty low given Jeep isn't bothering to sell the Avenger here, though for a brand that's only going to be selling the 500e, maybe it could make more sense. Most likely, the company wants to get it right with the 500e before throwing something else into the mix, and we don't blame them.
