Consumer Reports, as always, lead the way in accessing all aspects of car ownership. It has just released a list of the most satisfying vehicles to own for 2023. This isn’t about problems encountered by owners, it’s about no regrets. With more options and competition, this gets harder for automakers to accomplish.
So here are the Top 10 as determined by Consumer Reports:
10. Dodge Challenger
2023 Dodge Challenger Shakedown | Stellantis
With so many years already under its belt, Dodge knows what to give Dodge Challenger buyers. But owners know what they’re getting as well. A robust tire-smoking coupe with enduring style and too much power, which for some, hits that sweet spot.
9. Mazda MX-5 Miata
Mazda MX-5 Miata 30th Anniversary Edition | Mazda
The Miata is yet, another car that owners really know what they’re getting. A two-seat sports car isn’t for everyone, but for those that like them, it strikes a balance. Handling, power, comfort, and price all work toward Miata’s success.
8. Toyota RAV4 Prime
2023 Toyota RAV4 | Toyota
SUVs lead the consumer hit parade, and Toyota has sweetened the RAV4 over several iterations. That, and the expected high quality and reliability remind owners of that every time they drive. Decent power and interior capacity don’t hurt either.
7. Toyota/Subaru BRZ86
2023 Subaru BRZ86 | Toyota
In some ways the BRZ86 has similar buyers to the Miata, but with less heritage supporting it. Sort of a fastback 2+2 Miata, if you will. Impressive performance and great looks are impressive for an underlying platform it shares with the Subaru Forester and Crosstrek.
6. Polestar 2
The new Polestar 2
This one landing on Consumer Report’s Most Satisfying vehicles list is a bit surprising because it has only recently been released. We suspect owners have purchased one or two EVs before and know what they want. Only about 5,000 have sold so far, and dealers are not always convenient, but the number six spot for satisfying is impressive.
5. Hyundai Ioniq 5
Hyundai Ioniq 5 | Hyundai
The fact that Hyundai keeps hitting home runs makes it no surprise the Ioniq 5 is on this Most Satisfying vehicles list. It, too, hasn’t been around long. But at least initially, the Ioniq 5 is pleasing drivers and pleasing those of us that see them on the highway or in our neighborhoods. It is a great design and a competitive price.
4. Ford Maverick Hybrid
2023 Ford Maverick | Ford
If its towing and cargo capacity suits your needs, there is every reason to expect many satisfied Maverick owners. And with its hybrid system standard, it’s satisfying to pass so many gas stations with its fuel economy. GM and Ram have their versions in the queue, hopefully soon.
3. Rivian R1T
Rivian R1T Electric Truck on a Trail | Rivian
This might be the most surprising on the Most Satisfying list, as everything about the Rivian EV is new, including manufacturing and its workforce. In spite of those obstacles, with the press praising it, it not only made the Most Satisfied list but comes in number 3.
2. Porsche 911
2022 Porsche 911 Carrera T | Porsche
Except for the price, this is totally expected. But those that buy them don’t worry about such mundane things as the cost. They’re buying it for all of the reasons you already know about Porsche, and the 911 legacy. Porsche will always have a car on this list.
1. Chevrolet C8 Corvette
2023 Chevy Corvette | Corvette
Related
Between the accolades and price, we’re not surprised by the Corvette being on this Most Satisfying list. What is surprising is that Chevy really worked out potential problems on the C8. That’s why, now in its fourth year of production, there are enough owners to add credibility to being number one. Especially early owners by now should have found unsatisfying things about the Corvette, but this proves the C8 is hitting on all cylinders.
