Swedish EV Firm Cake has shown off its EV lineup at Auto Expo 2023. Cake has turned up at Auto Expo 2023 with its Makka, Kalk, and Osa lineup of electric bikes for both B2B and B2C applications.
The Swedish firm is known for producing some rather high-tech EVs with suspension systems developed with Ohlins and brakes from racing which provide ample amounts of power and in the case of the Kalk lineup can go off the beaten path as well.
Makka is Cake’s Urban commuter line of electric motorcycles and the models shown off at Auto Expo 2023 are the Makka Flex and the Makka Flex :work.
The Makka Flex sports a 15kWh battery pack that delivers a range of 54 kilometres on a single charge. The battery pack takes 3 hours to fully charge up. The Makka Flex’s batteries power a mid-mounted motor that has a peak output of 3.75bhp and 60Nm(at the wheel) allowing the electric commuter bike to hit a top speed of 45km/h.
The Makka Flex :work doubles the battery capacity to 3kWh which in turn raises the range to 100km. Charging time also doubles to 6 hours. The peak power output of the electric motor rises to 4.42 bhp while the torque remains the same. Both Makka variants ride on 14-inch spoked rims.
The Osa lineup showcased includes the Osa+ and the Osa+ :work. The Osa lineup is even more powerful and is marketed as a high-performance utility vehicle. The Osa+ is powered by a 3.5kWh battery pack that delivers a range of 111km on a single charge. The battery pack takes 4.5 hours to charge and powers a mid-mounted electric motor with a peak output of 12bhp and 151Nm(at the wheel). The Osa+ weighs 97.5kg and has a top speed in excess of 90km/h and requires an A1 license to ride in Europe.
The Osa+ :work takes the power up to 13.41bhp but otherwise is the same as the Osa+. Both bikes offer 220mm of ground clearance and ride on 14-inch forged and CNC aluminium hubs developed by Cake.
The final EV lineup and the most powerful of the lot on display at Auto Expo 2023 is the Cake Kalk. On display are the Kalk& and the Kalk :work. The Kalk lineup offers 300mm of ground clearance and both bikes require A1 licenses in Europe and are powered by a 2.5kWh battery pack that offers a range of 86km.
The mid-mounted motor on the Kalk& develops 13.41bhp and 252Nm(at the wheel) of torque while the Kalk :work ups the power to 14.75bhp. This allows the bikes to hit a top speed of over 90km/h.
The Kalk& features an Ohlins suspension setup for both the front and the rear which allows for up to 202mm of travel and the bike rides on 19-inch wheels shod with dual-sport tyres. The Kalk :work sports MX front suspension that allows for 200m of travel while the rear shock is directly mounted for simplicity and robustness. The Kalk: work rides on 18-inch tyres shod with Continental TKC80 off-road tyres.
Thoughts On Cake’s Showcase At Auto Expo 2023
Swedish EV manufacturer Cake showed up with some rather interesting bikes at Auto Expo 2023 and has left us more than intrigued and ready to jump into the saddle especially with its Kalk lineup despite the seat height of 926mm.
