The Maserati MC20 Coupe recently touched down on local soil, following this, the manufacturer has finally listed the South African starting price of its stylish flagship.
Those looking to get into the V6 Italian supercar will spend no less than R6,714,000 before options, of which there are many.
This makes the Maserati quite a bit pricier than its competitors including the Ferrari 296 GTB, Lamborghini Huracan, and Porsche 911 Turbo S.
Currently, a total of nine MC20 Coupes are bound for customers inside our borders and the domestic subsidiary said it’s consistently attempting to secure additional units for interested individuals.
A convertible version of the two-door, the MC20 Cielo, will also make its South African debut in March of next year.
MC20 specs
The Maserati MC20 sees a mid-mounted, 3.0-litre, bi-turbo V6 powerplant delivering a massive 463kW and 730Nm to the rear wheels alone.
In partnership with an eight-speed, dual-clutch automatic transmission, the powertrain rockets the coupe to 100km/h in 2.88 seconds while top speed is reported to be in excess of 326km/h.
These mind-bending accomplishments are partly thanks to the use of a carbon monocoque body giving the supercar a featherweight of just 1,475kg and a highly-aerodynamic design incorporating functional front air vents, side air intakes, and a rear spoiler.
The “hump-shaped” underbody has also been extensively studied to guarantee maximum drag efficiency.
Owing to its butterfly doors, the MC20 further boasts “best in class ergonomics” as these doors not only lend the two-seater classic supercar flair but also make it easier for the driver and passenger to get in and out, said Maserati.
Once inside, the athletic persona continues with an “essentials-only” cabin design where each component serves a practical purpose.
The coupe is endowed with the buyer’s choice of leather, Alcantara, and carbon fibre finishes, model-exclusive seats, a racing-inspired cockpit layout, and a digitised interior relegating most of the controls to the high-definition driver’s display and infotainment system.
To keep the Maserati free of unnecessary dings and scratches it also gets a handful of driver assistance features such as all-round parking sensors, a 360-degree camera system, blind-spot monitoring, autonomous emergency braking, and traffic sign recognition.
