Volvo has changed the structure of all Volvo XC40 Recharge price in UK, giving buyers of its all-electric SUV more choice. The XC40 EV is available to order now, starting at £ 49,950, making it a direct competitor to Tesla’s upcoming Model Y.
The Volvo XC40 Pure Electric is an all-electric variant of the XC40. Recharge is the name of both the plug-in hybrid and the electric car, which is why the XC40 EV offers the Pure Electric option. We tested the all-wheel-drive model.
This driving reports and films are editorially untouched and editorially free in their opinions and evaluations. However, because the manufacturers make the publications feasible in the first place, this content is also marked as an advertising for legal reasons.
The Volvo XC40 has a similarly compact front as its larger brothers, the XC60 and XC90. The radiator grille of the XC40 P8 completely electric is closed and painted in the same color as the car, giving it a unique appearance. The foundation is a simplified version of the LED headlights with the distinctive “Thor’s Hammer” LED daytime running lights.
The illumination kit includes complete LED headlights with dynamic cornering lights as an option. A deep notch in the bottom section and a succinct C-pillar may be seen in the side profile. In the top part of the fenders, there are two distinctive design lines. The XC40, on the other hand, is maintained calm, gentle, and flowing without sharp edges. The all-electric model comes standard with 19-inch rims, with 20-inch wheels available as an upgrade.
On the one hand, the basic configuration with the digital instruments in 12.3″ with a new design and the vertical 9″ infotainment system with new Android automotive software (i.e. Google-based) and the Scandinavian interior design are distinctive for the Volvo XC40 EV. Some of the XC40 models include a lot of storage space and unique materials like felt on the inside of the doors.
Fabric seats are based on a standard XC40, whereas Momentum Pro offers a combination of fabric on the inside and synthetic leather on the outside. The Elektro-XC40 starts with fabric; starting in 2022, a combination of microfiber inside and synthetic leather outside, a seat with wool, and a complete synthetic leather seat will be offered as options. The XC40 EV’s steering wheel is now also devoid of animals.
Matt surfaces predominate in the Volvo XC40, as do the buttons on the steering wheel and around the lower center console. It has a higher quality appearance and does not accumulate as many fingerprints. Excellent work.
The Volvo XC40’s overall level of craftsmanship is sometimes even greater than that of the more costly XC60 / XC90 / S90 / V90. There is also a lot of storage space in the center console for cell phones and other items, which is a great advantage. There are several décor pieces to pick from, such as an aluminum appearance or a matt wood inlay.
As with the Polestar 2, the infotainment system is excellent if an internet connection is available. Then it’s very quick thanks to native Android integration, and it has flawless speech recognition for GPS and everything else.
It is also capable of handling complicated queries. And, with GoogleMaps, you get the fastest navigation system on board, as well as the finest traffic prediction. However, if the car’s cell reception is poor, there will be issues with the voice control.
The sitting comfort is excellent in the front, and the elevated location provides a nice perspective. The Volvo XC40 already has the appropriate SUV vibe. Despite the panoramic roof, which sometimes restricts space in the rear seats, there is enough of headroom, especially for tall persons.
The knee room is also enough; you won’t have to compromise on your big brothers. Proof that the compact Volvo platform makes excellent use of available space. Furthermore, you sit pleasantly and erect in the rear. The 413 l cargo space is also quite user-friendly.
The loading floor may also be easily configured to partition the trunk. The rear seats fold flat and offer a totally flat loading space when two buttons are pressed. The main difference in space is that the trunk is shorter (90 cm trunk length) than that of the bigger brothers. The trunk is not constrained in the plug-in hybrid or totally electric versions since the battery is partially stored in the middle tunnel.

Behaviour that drives
The Volvo XC40 is built on the CMA compact vehicle architecture. The XC40 is also more dynamically positioned than the bigger XC60. Within the XC40 family, the totally electric variant also sports a dynamic chassis. Nonetheless, the comfort is more than enough; in addition to excellent sitting comfort, the suspension is also excellent.
However, we recommend sticking with 19-inch rims because 20-inch rims may appear to be more stylish, but they impair rolling comfort. The entire effect is exceptionally nimble driving behavior, the most agile Volvo SUV, due to the somewhat tighter shape compared to the bigger brothers and the shorter wheelbase.
And, because to the large battery in the centre of the car, the electric Volvo XC40 has a very low center of gravity. Furthermore, the XC40 EV has a time of 4.9 seconds. The XC40 is the fastest from 0 to 100 km/h.
As a result, he definitely has the aspect of driving enjoyment on his side. The steering is tight and straight. The gearshift lever is easier to use than on the XC40 internal combustion engines: pulling D or R once is sufficient; there is no need to detour via neutral gear.
We measured 17 kWh/100 km of usage. This equates to a range of 440 kilometers, which is an excellent performance and the same as the Polestar 2, which utilizes the same technology. The Polestar 2 has a lower drag coefficient as a sedan, so it can stand in the wind more effectively, while the XC40 has a little greater net battery capacity (from the same gross battery capacity).
Notable: The City Safety System, like with other Volvos, is already incorporated in the standard equipment (system for collision avoidance with vehicles, cyclists, pedestrians and large animals, including intersection brake assistant). There is also cruise control and Lane Keeping Aid. The Pilot Assist system, which is optional, allows you to drive semi-autonomously up to 130 km/h.

The electric Volvo XC40 provides exactly what the market is looking for right now: a compact SUV that is 100% electric and has a long range. There’s also the plush seats, excellent craftsmanship, and one of the greatest entertainment systems based on Android with lightning-fast Google maps.
In the future, three animal-free choices will also be offered. The XC40’s driving agility is distinctive, and it’s a lot of fun to drive while still being practical. Of course, like other luxury vehicles, it is not inexpensive and does not lead the market in terms of range, but it does have a Volvo feel to it both inside and out.
Volvo xc40 recharge twin
The Recharge Twin is strikingly similar to the XC40’s gasoline and plug-in hybrid models. The fact that the front grille has been replaced with a solid panel is the only indication that this automobile is electric, other from the emblems. That isn’t to say that this car isn’t an EV, despite the fact that it’s built on a platform that can also support an internal combustion engine in some variants. The electric powertrain is identical to that of the all-electric Polestar 2.
If you’re a Volvo lover, you’re probably already aware that Volvo plug-ins aren’t at the top of the electrified car market. They’re speedy in general, and the XC40 Recharge Twin AWD takes it even farther. This automobile boasts a massive 408 horsepower and 660 Nm of torque, which is distributed to all four wheels using a dual-motor system.
