We break down the monthly sales figures of October for Volvo to determine how popular the C40 Recharge is in the range.
Volvo is well-known for producing very stylish, well-equipped and safe models. In recent times, the brand has doubled down on its efforts towards more environmentally friendly vehicles and has been on an EV product offensive locally. And so far, South Africans have responded positively as Volvo outsold all-electric C-segment competitors.
Now, before you search for new or used Volvo C40 models on AutoTrader, let us break down the sales figures of models sold in October 2023 to find out just how popular the premium crossover model is. Volvo C40 Recharge popularity
According to NAAMSA (National Association of Automobile Manufacturers of South Africa), Volvo Cars South Africa sold 94 new cars. The larger XC90 sold 8 units, while the slightly smaller XC60 sold 47 units. The XC40, of which there are two EV derivatives, sold 36 units. Now, that means that only three C40 Recharge models were sold in the month of October.
Verdict
Considering that in the month of October, fewer C40 Recharge models were sold than the larger XC90, it is safe to say that the C40 Recharge model is not popular yet. The keyword here is ‘yet’ as we need to take into consideration that the C40 Recharge only became available in June of 2023 and like any new model, especially EV, it will take some time for local buyers to warm up to the newcomer.
