Volvo has introduced a range of updates to its electric car lineup including a complete design of the XC40 Recharge and a new version of the C40 Recharge.
The XC40 Recharge gets a completely new front bumper and a frameless grille plate, bringing the SUV into line with the C40 Recharge. The headlights – inspired by Thor’s Hammer, apparently – have been updated with pixel LED light technology to light the way ahead without dazzling oncoming drivers.
Drivers will also get “premium leather-free” upholstery options with the XC40 Recharge, as well as new exterior colours and alloy wheels.
“As we move towards becoming a fully electric company, our design language follows,” says Robin Page, Head of Design at Volvo Cars.
“With the refreshed fully electric XC40, we continue to evolve its instantly recognisable design, creating a more modern face with a sleeker front and an even more integrated grille.”
The C40 hatchback, meanwhile, has received a new single-motor variant adding to the existing double-motor version.
Sending power to the front wheels only, the single-motor C40 gets a 96 kWh battery pack and can hit up to 269 miles on a single charge. The battery can be charged from 10% to 80% in 32 minutes on a fast-charging system.
The new C40 and XC40 variants, along with all other new Volvos, will be available through an updated offer concept, designed to make the online ordering process of Volvo cars easier and more convenient.
Volvo customers will now be able to choose between different equipment levels and select the options that best suit their personal needs. The new offer structure reflects Volvo Cars’ ambitions to increase price transparency, as well as reduce complexity in its model offering by focusing on attractive pre-selected variants.
UK order books for the updated models are open now, though the first deliveries are expected in Q3.
