Visitors to the Cornish tourist attraction can take either of Volvo’s two battery-electric cars on an unaccompanied test-drive.
It comes as part of Volvo’s long-term partnership with the Eden Project, aimed to ‘inspire and educate people about our relationship with the environment’.
Tackling concerns customers may have about switching to an EV is one of the project’s key objectives.
Electrifying experience

Test-drives at the Eden Project can be pre-booked through the Volvo website. A small number of walk-in slots will also be offered, depending on availability.
Drivers get to choose which of the two Volvo models they want to test, before heading off into the Cornish countryside.
Volvo staff will ensure drivers are fully familiar with how to use an electric car, and will programme a route into the navigation system.
The test-drive experience is open to those aged over 25, and Volvo states that friends and family can come along for the ride. Dogs, however, are sadly not allowed to join the fun.
Low-impact exercise

Only electric cars will be available at Test Drive Hub, leaving those interested in driving one of Volvo’s plug-in hybrid models out of luck.
This is due to Volvo’s commitment to being a pure electric company by 2030, with all non-EV models phased out by then.
Kristian Elvefors, MD of Volvo Car UK, said: “We are really excited to launch the new Volvo Pure Electric Test Drive Hub at the Eden Project. At Volvo, we recognise we have been part of the problem and are working extremely hard to ensure that our next generation of cars leave as little impact as possible.
“Our latest model, the C40 Recharge pure electric, demonstrates this commitment, right down to how it is manufactured, and the amount of recycled material used within the car.”
