Volvo Car, the Swdiesh luxury car marque, is celebrating its 96th anniversary around the globe. Volvo Car India has also joined in the celebrations. On the occasion, its employees drove a fleet of Volvo cars around Delhi NCR. Jyoti Malhotra, Managing Director, Volvo Car India, led the vehicle line-up with the all-electric XC40 Recharge.
The carmaker entered the Indian market in 2007 with its S80 saloon and XC90 SUV. The company commenced its operations with three dealerships, namely Mumbai, Delhi, and Chandigarh. Now, the brand has 25 touchpoints in various major cities.
Volvo Car India retails the XC40, XC60, XC90, S90, and XC40 Recharge. It had allocated only 150 units of the XC40 Recharged to India and all the units of the electric vehicle (EV) were sold out within two hours of bookings commencement. Notably, the XC40 Recharged is being assembled at its Hoskote facility in Bangalore, Karnataka. The brand now plans to launch the C40 Recharge sometime this year.
Commenting on the occasion, Jyoti Malhotra, Managing Director, Volvo Car India, said, “We today mark 96 years of technical excellence and globally benchmarked safety standards and what better way to celebrate it than showcasing your product. This is the inspiration behind our drive today. 96 years has been a long journey and today as we stand on the cusp of becoming an all-electric company by 2030 we in India commit ourselves to even higher levels of customer satisfaction.”
