Jaguar broke its 31-year Le Mans dry spell with a 1988 win in the incredible Jaguar XJR-9. This 7.0-liter V12-powered Jaguar became an instant icon for Jaguar fans and race historians. Honoring the XJR-9’s win at Le Mans, the folks at Jaguar are releasing a limited-edition F-Pace SVR. Dubbed the Edition 1988, this purple Jag is an homage to the Silk Cut-liveried racer.
Powering the Jaguar F-Pace SVR Edition 1988 isn’t the potent V12 found in the XJR. Instead, you’ll find the tried and true 5.0-liter supercharged V8 that makes 550 hp and 516 lb-ft of torque, managed by an eight-speed automatic transmission. Though, all of that is effectively what you’ll find from a standard-issue Jaguar F-Pace SVR.
What sets this Edition 1988 apart from the standard Jaguar F-Pace? Well, for starters the paint. This Jaguar wears midnight amethyst paint, which as you can see above is a deep, rich purple finish. This purple seems to be inspired by the XJR-9’s Silk Cut livery and is accented by a set of gold-finished alloy wheels. Special badging, like the sunset gold Jaguar logo, will also help remind folks that you have a special edition.
It is reassuring to see Jaguar leaning on its motorsport heritage. Jaguar is capping production of these F-Pace SVR Edition 1988 models at 394 examples worldwide. Jaguar didn’t say how those allocations will work for different regions but did note that this F-Pace SVR will start at $110,000 in the US.
