After over 75 years of combustion engines, Jaguar has announced that its last-ever petrol sports car will enter production in 2024 before the brand goes all-electric in 2025.
The F-Type ZP Edition will be available in both coupe and convertible body styles and only 150 examples are to be produced, with two hard-top units earmarked for the South African market.
These low-slung sports cars were inspired by the 1960s Jaguar E-Type race cars and were treated to specially-curated interior and exterior details by the personalisation experts at the automaker’s SV Bespoke department.
“As Jaguar embarks on the boldest transformation in its history, to become a modern luxury all-electric brand from 2025, this is an unrepeatable celebration of Jaguar’s internal combustion sports car provenance,” said Jaguar Managing Director Rawdon Glover.
“F-Type has captivated sports car drivers for more than a decade, just as the E-type did five decades before it. The ZP Edition is the ultimate celebration of that lineage, joining an illustrious roster of heritage-inspired collector’s editions including the 2015 Project 7 and 2020 Heritage 60 Edition.”
F-Type ZP Edition specifications
The F-Type ZP Edition is available in two colourways derived from the first race-winning ‘Project ZP’ E-types campaigned in 1961, these being Oulton Blue Gloss paint with Mars Red/Ebony duotone leather interior, or Crystal Grey Gloss paint with Navy Blue/Ebony duotone leather interior.
Both palettes feature Porcelain White Gloss hand-painted racing-style roundels on the doors, as well as Porcelain White Gloss grille surrounds.
Neither exterior colours have been offered on the F-Type before, and they match the two specially formulated paints created for seven pairs of E-type Project ZP Collection cars announced by Jaguar Classic earlier in 2023.
Complementing the exclusive hues are Gloss Black exterior accents and brake calipers, in addition to F-Type ZP Edition branding on the fenders and on the Gloss Black diamond-turned 20-inch forged alloy wheels.
Similarly, the cabin is differentiated from the standard two-door with unique horizontal seat fluting, ZP Edition badging on the tread plates and dash, and a “One of 150” SV Bespoke commissioning plaque.
Equipped with the brand’s famous 5.0-litre, supercharged V8 powerplant – the sound of which is archived in the British Library so that it may never be forgotten – the ZP Edition generates a monumental 423kW and 700Nm.
It also boasts an all-wheel-drive system with Intelligent Driveline Dynamics technology paired with an eight-speed Quickshift automatic transmission, resulting in “exceptional performance on all surfaces and in all weathers,” said Jaguar.
With this setup, the coveted 0-100km/h sprint takes as little as 3.7 seconds while top speed is an electronically-limited 300km/h.
Pricing for the F-Type’s swan song has not been revealed, but it’s safe to assume that it will be a fair bit more expensive than the current flagship model, the R3-million F-Type R75, on account of its rarity and provenance as Jaguar’s last-ever petrol sports car.
