The updated Jaguar F-Pace is coming to South Africa, including a revised plug-in hybrid (PHEV) boasting a 20% electric range improvement over the previous models.
The new vehicle will be made available in the country in early 2023, with pricing to be announced closer to the launch date, said the manufacturer.
What to expect
For the P440e PHEV units, Jaguar has added a larger lithium-ion battery pack with nine modules instead of eight, bringing the total energy storage up to 19.2kWh.
Consequently, the range of the pure-electric driving mode has been raised from 53km up to 65km – an improvement of more than 20%, said the automaker.
As before, the hybrid F-Pace will have a combined output of 297kW and 640Nm, allowing for an acceleration time of just 5.3 seconds.
Regarding the rest of the F-Pace line-up, Jaguar has said that it will be simplifying the range and that the non-R-Dynamic models will no longer be offered.
At the same time, the carmaker said that remaining units will see “enhanced specifications.”
The R-Dynamic SE and HSE models will be equipped with 20 and 21-inch alloy wheels with a choice of either a diamond-turned or black finish, and the centre caps are now black and silver instead of the red and silver found on previous entries.
All F-Pace models will also come with a space-saver wheel as standard, with an option to include a full-sized spare.
The Black Pack cosmetic option is now standard on the SE through to the SVR trim levels, too, which includes a gloss black touch to the door mirrors, grille, window surrounds, rear valence, and badges.
Additionally, every unit now includes a wireless phone charger and the brand’s Pivi Pro infotainment screen with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and the What3Words navigation system, all of which is kept up-to-date with over-the-air software updates.
The complete South African F-Pace line-up will consist of the following trim lines:
- Jaguar F-Pace R-Dynamic SE
- Jaguar F-Pace R-Dynamic HSE
- Jaguar F-Pace R-Dynamic SVR
As for the engines, South Africa will receive the 297kW hybrid powerplant, a 147kW D200 diesel unit, and a more powerful 221kW D300 six-cylinder diesel drivetrain.
The range-topping SVR model, meanwhile, will once again be shipped with a 5.0-litre V8 engine packing 405kW and an impressive 700Nm, letting it sprint from 0-100km/h in 4.0 seconds before capping out at 286km/h.
Each power unit pairs to an eight-speed automatic gearbox and the range will be exclusively offered in all-wheel drive.
