This is a funny one – a recent dashcam footage captured a 3 driver managing to stop the car in time, only to gently hit the car the driver was avoiding in the start.
As seen on the SG Road Vigilante YouTube channel, this GetGo (car sharing, akin to GoCar / SoCar in Malaysia) Mazda 3 actually managed to stop the car in time, but the driver somehow crashed into the Prius taxi in front.
AEB or SCBS is available on some Mazda models
Considering that details are scarce at the moment, it is possible this particular Mazda 3 is fitted with Mazda’s City Brake Support (SCBS, or AEB), which managed to stop the car in time.
That said, AEB or SCBS won’t stop the car indefinitely, as it will release the brakes after a short period of time.

The other possibility is that the driver managed to stop the car in time, but panicked and let go of the brakes, resulting in the accident you see.
Regardless, the accident looks minor, without any bits of either car visibly falling apart. The biggest bruise would definitely be on the Mazda 3 driver’s ego.
