Since its introduction in 2003, the Mazda 3 has established itself as an iconic hatchback on the road and a top-selling model for Mazda globally. The brand is now releasing an updated version of the current generation – here is how much it will cost in South Africa.

In line with current trends, the new Mazda 3 features updated materials and technology. It now offers Android Auto and Wireless Apple CarPlay, USB Type-C connectivity, and wireless charging compatible with modern smartphones.
The Japanese hatch is also equipped with a range of features for a seamless driving experience. From the leather-clad multi-function steering wheel to the Heads Up Display and MZD Connect system, everything has been designed to seamlessly connect the driver and the vehicle together. The recent facelift also introduces a new exterior colour: Ceramic White.

The bold exterior design is mirrored in the cabin’s purposeful dashboard, streamlined centre console, and sloped rear roofline. Standard features across the Mazda 3 range include rear parking sensors, Heads-Up Display, Electronic Parking Brake, Auto Hold, 7-Inch TFT LCD Digital Meter, leather-wrapped steering wheel, i-Stop, LED Headlamps, Auto Headlamp Levelling, Multi-function steering wheel with audio controls, and Privacy glass.

The top-tier Astina model further enhances this extensive list of features with 18-inch Alloy wheels (Grey Metallic), Smart keyless entry, a 12-Speaker Bose sound system, Black Leather or Burgundy Red Leather seat trim options, a 10-Way power-adjustable and memory seat for the Driver, Blind Spot Monitoring, Rear Cross Traffic Alert, and Auto paddle transmission switches.

The lineup includes Dynamic and Astina variants. The Dynamic models offer a choice between automatic and manual transmissions, while the Astina model is available only with an automatic transmission.

The 1,5-litre Manual in-line 4-cylinder 16-valve petrol engine delivers 88 kW of power @ 6 000 r/min and 153 N.m of torque @ 4 000 r/min. The 2,0-litre in-line 4-cylinder 16-valve petrol engine produces 121 kW of power @ 6 000 r/min and 213 N.m @ 4 000 r/min.
