Renault has launched an AMT (Automated Manual Transmission) version of its Triber in South Africa.
The AMT variant of the Triber, which is a cross between an SUV and a people-carrier, will sit at the top of the range and retail for R219,900.
For those unfamiliar with the vehicle, the Triber offers seating for seven or five people, thanks to a range of seat configurations.
Additionally, it features a 625-litre boot – in 5-seater mode – along with a ground clearance of 182mm.
On the inside, the Triber features “equipment akin to upper-segment vehicle standards”, said Renault.
This includes Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility, a MediaNav system with 8-inch touchscreen, reverse camera, keyless entry, and separate air conditioning vent controls for passengers.
Economical engine
Powering the Renault Triber is a 1.0-litre 3-cylinder petrol engine, which generates 52kW and 96Nm of torque.
This allows drivers to achieve a fuel economy of 5.5-litres per 100km and also results in low maintenance costs, said the company.
Power is then transferred to the wheels through the 5-speed AMT system.
“The AMT variant offers a comfortable drive, specifically tuned for effortless driving in city traffic conditions,” said Renault.
“The AMT transmission automatically senses the need… [to change] the gear accordingly, without any manual intervention. However, the engine offers the flexibility for the driver to change to manual mode, should the driving requirements call for this.”
From a service perspective, the Renault Triber AMT includes a 2-year/30,000km service plan and 5-year/150,000km warranty.
