French carmaker Renault has crossed the 9 lakh sales milestone in its journey in India. Renault entered India eleven years ago in 2012 and claims to be one of the youngest and fastest carmakers to achieve this feat.
Renault entered India with the Duster SUV and since then has set about challenging the status quo. In 2015, the arrival of the Kwid saw the French carmaker take on the Alto for the hearts and wallets of the Indian driver looking for their first car.
The Kwid is one of three Renault cars currently on sale in India and it offers entry-level buyers an SUV-inspired design along with a frugal 1.0-litre petrol engine.
The second of the three current offerings from Renault in India is the Triber MPV. The Triber can seat up to 7 people and offers a luggage space of up to 625 litres, the largest in its category.
The Triber MPV is powered by a 1.0-litre three-cylinder engine that produces 71bhp and 96Nm and is offered with both manual and AMT gearbox options. The Renault Triber is also quite a safe car receiving a 4-Star Safety Rating for Adult occupant safety from Global NCAP.
The third and final offering from Renault in India is the Kiger B-Segment SUV. The Kiger too received a 4-Star Safety Rating for Adult occupant safety from Global NCAP and is powered by the same 1.0-litre engine as the Triber.
The Kiger is also offered with a turbocharged version of the 1.0-litre engine that pushes out 99bhp and 160Nm of peak torque. The Kiger is offered with either a 5-speed manual gearbox or two automatic transmission options – AMT and CVT.
Speaking about the achievement, Venkatram Mamillapalle, Country CEO & Managing Director, Renault India Operations, “We are extremely thrilled to have crossed the 9-lakh sales milestone in India.
