Renault Australia – through its new local importer Ateco – will soon increase prices across most of its model range, with the rises ranging from $600 to $1960 across most models and as much as $6100 on the Megane RS hot hatch.
In effect from 1 March 2022, all Renault vehicles except the soon-to-be-replaced Kangoo city van will increase in price, attributed to “significant material and shipping cost changes over recent months”.
The model hardest hit is the Megane RS Trophy hot hatch, which is now $6100 more expensive in both manual and automatic forms – pushing the starting price beyond $60,000 before on-road costs for the first time (excluding past limited-run Trophy-R editions).
The entry-level Arkana Zen small SUV and entire Koleos mid-size SUV range now cost $600 more than before, while the rest of the range (Captur, Arkana Intens/RS Line, Trafic and Master) has risen by between $1100 and $1960.
Changes have been made to standard specification lists for the Captur, Koleos and Arkana, as part of Model Year 2022 updates – full details are expected to be announced in the coming weeks.
Despite undergoing the largest price rise of all, the Megane RS hatchback’s standard feature list is unchanged.
“Like many brands in Australia, Renault have had to increase prices due to significant material and shipping cost changes over recent months,” said Glen Sealey, Renault Australia general manager.
“With strategic additions like the Arkana R.S. Line, we’re broadening the Renault range in preparation for the product offensive coming soon with a refreshed commercial range, the all-new Megane E-Tech in 2023 and much more to come,”
