If a
more powerful Coolray
isn’t enough to pique your interest, then you’re in luck. Fresh off the boat, Geely Philippines will be previewing the refreshed 2022 Coolray at the Manila International Auto Show (MIAS).
Not to be mistaken for the
2023 Coolray
, the 2022 Coolray gets a new honeycomb grille design that replaces the current “expanding cosmos” one. Along with the grille, the front bumper’s been changed to add a grayed-out portion that gives it more visual heft befitting an SUV. The headlight shape remains the same, but Geely has incorporated a new “welcome sequence” when the vehicle’s unlocked.
Inside, the refreshed Coolray is expected to get a massive 12.3-inch touchscreen which replaces the current 10.25-inch one. Sadly, Apple CarPlay nor Android Auto aren’t on the menu. Geely Philippines hasn’t confirmed the specs, but in China, it’s available with ambient interior lighting that can be made to match the driving mode or the rhythm of the music played. It also has a re-shaped gear selector.
Geely Philippines has confirmed that the refreshed Geely remains the same mechanically. With that, it continues to have a 177-horsepower 1.5-liter turbocharged 3-cylinder mated to a 7-speed wet-type dual clutch.
Interestingly, the Philippines is the first market to receive the refreshed Coolray outside of China, a sign that the Chinese automaker has placed importance on the country.
Since the 2022 Coolray’s MIAS appearance is officially a preview, they will not be releasing spec, trim, or pricing details at the show. Its official market launch will be done a few months after MIAS. Still, expect its pricing though to stay close to the current model’s P 978,000 to P 1,218,000 suggested retail price.
The Manila International Auto Show runs from April 7 to 10, 2022 at the World Trade Center.
