New teaser images show off sinister TRX styling cues for upcoming full-size electric pick-up truck
RAM has released another couple of teaser images of the upcoming 2024 RAM 1500 EV pick-up, but this time around they point to the inclusion of a higher-performance or more capable hero variant, as indicated by the differently styled illuminated ‘RAM’ badging.
We’ve already seen and know the battery-powered RAM 1500 EV will come with a full-width lighting signature and luminescent grille badge, but this latest teaser depicts a hollow/outlined font style similar to the one seen on the monstrous RAM 1500 TRX.
This could mean RAM is planning an electric flagship alternative to the Chevrolet Silverado EV Trail Boss, or possibly even an electric version of the sportscar-slaying RAM TRX.
The angrier badging is backed up by a raised bonnet, also as per the TRX, a completely different lighting signature designed to give the front-end more of a frown, and obviously flared wheel-arches.
What’s more, the last time we saw a RAM 1500 EV teaser image it was a darkened but crisp-looking computer render, whereas these new shots are more akin to digital sketches, suggesting this particular vehicle isn’t as far along its development path as the lesser variants seen previously.
This is also the first time the rear of the RAM 1500 EV has been shown, revealing a full-width rear lighting signature – complementing the front lighting signature of previous teasers – which then extends down the sides of the tailgate, plus the same outlined ‘RAM’ font as seen at the front of this particular variant.
Ram 1500 TRX
RAM hasn’t mentioned or released any concrete information about a dedicated RAM 1500 EV flagship thus far, but previous reports have suggested the all-electric pick-up range will be underpinned by Stellantis’ new ‘STLA Frame’ platform.
It is capable of housing a huge 200kWh battery pack and the most powerful version could deliver more than 650kW of power.
Should this newly teased variant indeed be a pure-electric TRX or some other hi-po RAM 1500 flagship, it more than likely it won’t be launched in 2024 along with the rest of the range, but rather a few months later so it can muster up some extra hype and soak up the public’s undivided attention.
