Ahead of the Renault Austral launch on the 8th of March 2022, the French brand has given us one last tease after a photoshoot with the model adorned in funky pattern circulated the motoring world not too long ago. This time around we have a graphic design sketch which gives a better idea to the exterior aesthetics of the flagship model.

After numerous teases from Renault, they have finally provided us with a comprehensive look at their new SUV, albeit in the format of a digital rendering. We aren’t complaining though because if it looks as good as its 2D depiction, it should be an attractive offering in its segment.

From one last tease of the Austral, it looks as though Renault are retaining the C-shaped headlight aesthetic that is prominent on the recently tested Clio V, although we can’t decipher if the model will also share an illuminated front badge like the Megane E-Tech Electric. The French brand does state that the austral has an attractive and modern style with the front holding “vivacity and sophistication,” while a muscular silhouette lines the extremities of the Austral typical of SUVs in the current market.

“We designed all-new Austral’s exterior based on the Renault brand’s new ‘sensual tech’ language,” said Agneta Dahlgren, Renault Design Project Director. Have a look at a potential renders here.

The Kadjar successor shares its platform with the new Nissan Qashqai for Europe, which means the French SUV won’t be available with a diesel engine. Only hybridised versions will be available at launch with a completely new 1.2-liter TCe unit assisted by 48V mild-hybrid tech while a 1.3-liter 12-volt mild-hybrid engine will also be available.

We will be sure to divulge all details on the model on the 8th of March when its official debut is scheduled and will release information if this model is expected for the South African market in due course.
