The Nio ET5 Touring (or Orion) will be officially launched on June 15, as it was disclosed today. Previously, Nio had announced a mysterious launch. It was obvious that this event is dedicated to the ET5 Touring, but now we have got the official confirmation. At the same time, Nio ET5 Touring has already reached delivery centers. It looks that its deliveries will start right after the launch. Moreover, Nio hinted that it will also launch other models, aside from the ET5 Touring.
According to the new announce from Nio, the official launch will happen On June 15 at 7pm CET. In China, it will be 1 am on June 16. So, once again, we can see how Nio relies on the international launch but not on the domestic one. What is more interesting, Nio disclosed that “Brand new Nio models are coming”. It means that aside from the ET5 Touring, we will also see the launch of other cars. According to industry insiders, Nio will simply launch a new version of the Nio ET5 sedan.
Nio ET5 at the delivery centers
As mentioned, the Nio ET5 Touring models have already reached delivery centers in China. As we can see in shots, the ET5 Touring is available in Airspace Blue, Luminous Orange and some other shades. It looks like its color options will be the same as the Nio ES6 NT2. On the one hand, it literally kills the simplicity of the product and increases its prime cost. Instead, you can highly customize your car. It looks that the deliveries of the ET5 Touring will start at the night after the launch, similar to the ES6 NT2.
In terms of styling, the ET5 Touring stays in line with the model that was exposed by the Chinese MIIT. It also looks pretty the same as the ET5 sedan. And, of course, its main feature is the rear end with a continuous roofline that forms the body shape of the station wagon. As we can see in shots, the trunk door of the Nio ET5 Touring is electrically powered.
But the trunk itself doesn’t look really big because of the high floor level. Moreover, the loading height could have been lower. On the other hand, this station wagon comes with 40/20/40-split-solding rear seats to make it easier to stow large items. With seats folded, you get the flat floor. Other features of the ET5 Touring trunk are LED lights, hooks and an outlet. Moreover, the roofline of the ET5 Touring looks high enough now. We will remind you that quite a lot of car users, including Mark Andrews, blamed the Nio ET5 sedan for the lack of head space. It’s great that it won’t be a problem for the station wagon.

We will remind you that the Nio ET5 Touring is the very first station wagon from Nio. Its dimensions are similar to the ET5 sedan: 4790/1960/1499 mm with a wheelbase 2888 mm. It is 77 mm longer, 133 mm wider and 57 mm higher than the BMW 3 Series Touring. The ET5 station wagon can tow up to 1,400 kg. As for the power output, it reaches 490 hp. Speaking about battery options, the ET5 Touring got three of them: hybrid ternary-LFP (NMC-LFP) 75 kWh, ternary for 100 kWh and semi-solid state battery for 150 kWh (to hit mass production in July).

Prices of the ET5 Touring have yet to be revealed. According to rumors, it will cost 350,000 yuan (49,100 USD) in China. We will remind that this sedan starts form 328,000 yuan (46,000 USD) in China, and from approximately 60,000 EUR (64,100 USD) in Europe. It means that the ET5 Touring is 7% more expensive than the ET5 sedan. So, this EV will cost around 65,000 EUR (70,000 USD). It is the solid price tag. But it is still cheaper than the Audi RS4 Avant that costs around 80,000 EUR (86,000 USD). And still, Nio has more horses. We will keep an eye on its launch, so stay tuned.
