The Changan Qiyuan A07 sedan has made its official debut in China, unveiling interior and specs. It is a relatively big sedan with both BEV and EREV powertrains. Its all electric version can run up to 710 km on a single charge. As for the peak powertrain output, it reaches 258 hp. Let’s get to know the Qiyuan A07 better.
About the Changan Qiyuan brand
Qiyuan is a new NEV brand under Changan that was previously known by its code name “OX”. Its Chinese name is 启源. We can translate it as “origin”. It seems that Changan wants to turn this brand into the origin of their new energy vehicle business. It is a bit odd since Changan already has two NEV brands: Deepal and Avatr. Anyway, they clearly want to have an additional one.

Speaking about the model line of the Qiyuan, it will comprise five models in 2025. We already know three of them. The first one is the Qiyuan A07 sedan that has just made its official debut in China. As for two other cars, they were exposed in the MIIT Announcements. What is really strange, they have appeared to be rebadged Changan Uni-V and Changan Lamore (Yida). Their names are Qiyuan A05 and Qiyuan A06. What is interesting, they are available only with EREV powertrain. On the other hand, the flagship model, Qiyuan A07, also got the electric version. Let’s get to it.
Changan Qiyuan A07
The Changan Qiyuan A07 got a really nice and clean exterior design with a thin LED running lights strip, retractable door handles, cool five-spoke 245/45 R19 wheels and a sloped roof line. It looks attractive indeed, but we can underline the drawback of this kind of exterior design. The Qiyuan A07 looks too similar to lots of Chinese sedans, including BYD Han, Nio ET7, Rising F7, Dayun Yuanhang Y6, etc. From the side, it is pretty hard to distinguish what model you are looking at exactly. Speaking about the A07’s dimensions, they are 4905/1910/1480 mm with a wheelbase of 2900 mm. So, it is 90 mm shorter and 10 mm lower than the BYD Han EV.
Inside, the Qiyuan A07 has a D-shaped two-spoke steering wheel with a Qiyuan logo on it. According to Qiyuan officials, this logo refers to a binary code. Behind the steering, we can notice a Face-ID sensor and a gear shifter. What is more, the Qiyuan hasn’t got an instrument panel. Instead, you have an HUD. It is a quite hip design for a lot of Chinese automakers. The center console has a large floating screen with a diameter of over 15 inches. Under the screen, we can notice a center tunnel with two wireless phone charging pads and a pair of cup holders. We should also underline that the interior of the A07 is finished with a nice wooden trim. Its front pillars and roof are also covered with microfiber.
Speaking about powertrain, the Qiyuan A07 stands on the EPA1 platform and shares it with the Deepal SL03. Its EREV version has a 1.5-liter self-aspirated four cylinder petrol-powered ICE for 88 hp. Its power output looks pathetic, but you should keep in mind that it doesn’t transfer any torque to the wheels. Instead, it acts like a generator, charging the battery. As for the electric motor, it generates 218 hp. And the all electric version has two optional e-motors for 218 and 258 hp. As for the battery, it is also available in two options: for 58 kWh (515 km CLTC) and for 80 kWh (710 km).

The A07 is quite an interesting vehicle with a nice exterior, cozy interior and a reasonable powertrain. Moreover, its price tag was rumored to be about of 200,000 yuan (27,865 USD). But Qiyuan market prospects are still highly questionable since it is one more unknown brand. Moreover, the A07’s exterior design is also very common.
