The all-new Nio EC6 NT2 was spotted in China during road tests without camouflage. This vehicle has got the production permission from the Chinese regulator in February this year. So, it is well-prepared for the market launch. It will get two electric motors for 482 hp, a swappable battery and LiDAR sensor on top of the roof. Worth mentioning that Nio stopped the production of the old Nio EC6. Now, let’s get to know the EC6 NT2 better.
Nio EC6 NT2 spy shots
As we can see in spy shots, the Nio ET6 NT2 stays in line with the car that was shown in the MIIT Announcements this year. As every Nio model that is underpinned by the NT2 platform, it is equipped with a LiDAR sensor and two cameras on top of the roof. In terms of styling, it is also really close to the Nio EC7 fastback SUV. It has the same taillight unit, the same gray plastic trim in the lower part of the body, and the same trunk door. Here, we would like to point out that the EC6 NT2 uses new retractable door handles with a more durable mechanism.

It is really hard to distinguish the EC6 NT2 from the EC7. And frankly speaking, they are quite close in terms of sizing. The dimensions of the Nio EC6 NT2 are 4849/1995/1697 mm with a wheelbase of 2915 mm. For a comparison, the length, width and height of the Nio EC7 are 4968/1974/1714 mm with a wheelbase of 2960 mm. So, the EC7 is 119 mm longer, 21 mm narrower (!) and 17 mm higher than the EC6 NT2. The only noticeable benefit of the Nio EC7 is a more powerful powertrain that comprises two electric motors for 653 hp.
Back to the spy shots of the Nio EC6 NT2. Pictures of three vehicles have leaked online. The first one has a moon-theme option package, Airspace Blue exterior color and five-spoke rims with aerodynamic covers to increase the range on a single charge. As for the second vehicle, it has got Star Gray color and chrome-plated five-spoke rims. And the third car has a moon-theme option package, Cloud White shade and five-spoke wheels with aerodynamic covers. All these wheels are R20.
Nio EC6 NT2 specs
The Nio EC6 NT2 will be equipped with standard Nio battery options: for 75 kWh, for 100 kWh and for 150 kWh (to launch this year). It will also support the battery swap technology and the battery subscription service. The Nio EC6 NT2’s top speed will reach 200 km/h. The price rage of the Nio EC6 NT2 is unknown. However, we may guess that the EC6 NT2 will start from 338,000 yuan (47,120 USD). So, it will be 120,000 yuan (16,690 USD) cheaper than the EC7. For this price tag, the EC6 NT2 looks much more desirable than the EC7. So, these models will probably cannibalize each other. Anyway, we will get to know the EC6 NT2 better since it will debut at the Chengdu Auto Show in August. We will keep an eye on it, so stay tuned!
