NHS Shetland in Scotland has rolled out a fleet of new electric vehicles. A total of 24 MG4 Electric cars have been phased in to replace the former Mazda 2 fleet. This expansion will take the NHS Board’s total electric car fleet to 35.
NHS Scotland aims to become a net zero health service by 2040, with all vehicles to be net zero emission vehicles by 31 December 2025. The Board has also installed 22 electric vehicle charging points across NHS locations to ensure the fleet can recharge.
These new charging points are only available for NHS vehicles and are located at health centres. The Scottish Government provided £76,000 to fund the infrastructure with its decarbonization programme
NHS Scotland aims to become a net zero health service by 2040 and all its fleet to be net zero emission vehicles by the end of 2025. NHS says that currently around 75 per cent of its vehicles already have zero tailpipe emissions.
Just over a year ago, NHS Lothian in Scotland invested over half a million pounds into its electric fleet for 58 electric vehicles and 46 charging stations, which brought up fleet electrification to 25 per cent.
