Since its introduction in 2011, the Volkswagen Polo Sedan, which is manufactured in Pune, India, has sold 44 267 units in the domestic market. The new Polo Sedan is set to redefine the A0 Sedan segment in South Africa by continuing to exceed customers’ mobility needs.
Exterior design that stands out
The new Polo Sedan has a distinct and eye-catching exterior design that makes it not only a sight to behold, but also an improved driving experience. The updated model now measures in at 4 561 mm long, 1 752 mm wide and 1 507 mm high. With its predecessor measuring in at 4 390 mm long, 1 699 mm wide and 1 467 mm tall, its new dimensions signal more spaciousness than before too.
The new venerable Polo Sedan includes LED headlights and taillights as standard, as well as a signature chrome grille, 16-inch alloy wheels (only available in Life derivatives), and a chrome package that includes chrome window strips and chrome door handles to enhance the sedan’s striking appearance.

The new Polo Sedan includes a slew of technology, entertainment, and connectivity features, including a 7-inch touchscreen radio, a 10-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless App-Connect and wireless mobile charging (only available in Life derivatives), and eight sound speakers. The new Polo Sedan comes standard with up to six airbags, Electronic Stability Control (ESC), a multi-collision braking system, LED headlights and taillights, tyre pressure monitoring, Park Distance Control in the rear, a rear-view camera (available only in Life derivatives), and Hill Start Assist (only available in the Life Tiptronic derivative).
New Polo Sedan equipment lines
The new Polo Sedan comes in three trim levels: Polo Sedan, Polo Sedan Life, and Polo Sedan Life Tiptronic. LED headlights and taillights, 16-inch steel wheels, App-Connect, a 7-inch touchscreen radio, Cruise Control, and a multi-function steering wheel are standard on the Polo Sedan.

The Polo Sedan Life includes keyless entry and start, a rear view camera, a 10-inch touchscreen infotainment system, wireless mobile charging, wireless App-Connect, power adjustable and folding exterior mirrors, climatronic air conditioning, ambient lighting, a leather-wrapped multi-function steering wheel and gear lever, front fog lamps and cornering lights, a chrome package, and 16-inch Scimitar wheels.
The four-cylinder MPI petrol engine is mated to a 5-speed manual or 6-speed Tiptronic transmission in the new Polo Sedan model range. At 3 850 to 4 100 rpm, the engine produces 81kW of power and 152 N.m of torque. Acceleration from standstill to 100km/h takes 11,2 seconds while the top speed is 190km/h, and the fuel consumption is claimed at 6,2 litres/100km. The Tiptronic derivative has the same power and torque as the manual and accelerates to 100km/h in 12,2 seconds. The top speed is 187 km/h, with a fuel consumption of 6,5 litres per 100 km.
