Renault South Africa has unveiled the new Triber.
The Triber is an SUV-inspired vehicle with “practicality and convenience at the core of its design” – according to Renault
On the outside, the new model receives a three-part grille, projector headlights, LED daytime running lights, a skid plate, and integrated roof rails that support a load of 50kg.
From the sides it has protective cladding on the wheel arches and doors, provides 182mm of ground clearance, and sits on 15-inch Flex wheels.
The square body shape allows 625 litres of cargo space in five-seater mode, while “smart stowage spaces” can fit an additional 31 litres throughout the cabin.
The Triber also features a first-in-industry EasyFix seating technology, making it possible to completely remove the third row of seats.
While on the topic of seating, Renault said the Triber’s “ultra-modular seating” will allow you to use it in 2-seater, 4-seater, 5-seater, and 7-seater configurations.
Standard equipment
The Triber’s interior features a dual-tone seat and door trim, chrome inserts around the cabin, and a fully-digital instrument cluster with LED illumination and “sportier graphics”.
It gets a multifunction steering wheel, too, and an on-board computer with an integrated gear-shift indicator.
“Aside from the four vents in the front row, an added super-convenient feature are the two independent controls for the aircon with vents on the second and third rows for greater occupant comfort,” said Renault.
The dash is fitted with an 8-inch MediaNav Evolution touchscreen infotainment system, keyless entry and push-button start come standard, and a reverse camera with virtual guidelines makes it easier to get out of your parking spot.
To further assist in safety, the Triber is fitted with rear parking sensors, ABS, front and passenger airbags, and a new dual hooter system.
Power
The Triber range is powered by a 1.0-litre, three-cylinder petrol engine that produces 52kW and 96Nm of torque.
Power is sent to the front wheels, with a claimed combined fuel consumption of 5.5l/100km.
A newly introduced 5-speed Easy-R AMT transmission is now also available for the car.
“The AMT transmission automatically senses the needs for the vehicle and changes the gear accordingly, without any manual intervention. However, the engine offers the flexibility for the driver to change to manual mode should the driving requirements call for this,” said Renault.
