With the world debut of the new Renault Austral approaching, the French automaker has started testing and fine-tuning a more familiar model of the new tiny SUV. These first spy photographs reveal the 2023 Renault Grand Austral, a model that will be at the pinnacle of the Koleos, with plenty of interior room and seven seats.
The unveiling of the new model that will take the place of the Renault Kadjar is almost upon us. The French manufacturer has been teasing a fully redesigned SUV, with a new name, since soon before the end of last year. The new Renault Austral will be unveiled in a few weeks and will go on sale after the summer, around next fall.
Renault has waited until the last possible minute to unveil a peculiar prototype, as shown in these spy images. The final of the caravans, which travels around the city, is the most noteworthy of these images since it features the new Renault Grand Austral 2023 for the first time. Although the perspective might be deceiving, it is evident that the final caravan is a substantially longer model than the new Austral that will follow, and that it will replace the Koleos, which will be phased off of the market in 2023.
The seven-seater successor for the Renault Koleos is already in the works.
The company was quite adept in the creation of this model, because a closer examination reveals that these are two simple prototypes of the new Austral, but the third appears to be somewhat different from a perspective. And it is here that the French ingenuity truly shines. Rather of focusing the extra space at the wheelbase level, as other manufacturers have done, the French have gone out on a tangent.
Although it is not recognized, we can tell you that the wheelbase has been slightly expanded, as has the overhang, which is why the vehicle’s size is so impressive.
Around 200 millimeters more will be focused in these two places in total. The rear pillar and wing are also much bigger, perhaps to accommodate a third row of seats, which is one of the major variances from the existing Koleos.
The Scénic, Talismán, and Koleos will be sacrificed, and the new Austral will give birth to a “family” with two additional body types, according to the French brand. Internally, it is called as “RHN,” and it has been given the marketing moniker “Grand Austral” for the time being, but it will have its own name, with Renault retaining the Koleos name.
A year of development has just begun, as the French brand expects to begin manufacture of the new model in May 2023, with marketing to begin in the fall of 2023.
