Renault has launched the new Clio V in South Africa with a starting price of R309,900.
The hatchback builds on the design of the model it is replacing with extended side panels and a lower roofline which gives it a more dynamic design, said Renault.
The new Renault will be offered in Life, Zen, and Intens specification grades, each model powered by a 1.0-litre engine.
What you get
The new Renault Clio V features a sportier design than the outgoing version through the addition of a larger front grille, C-shaped daytime running lights, sleeker headlights and tail lights, concealed rear door handles, chrome finishes, and an updated rear-end.
The hatchback is now also slightly larger than before, resulting in an improved cargo capacity of 391 litres, while weighing less, too.
Inside the cabin, an array of equipment is fitted across the range including a 4.2-inch driver’s display, all-round LED lights, manual airconditioning, a multifunction steering wheel, emergency brake assist, hill-start assist, ABS, six airbags, and 16-inch alloy wheels.
A 7.0-inch infotainment display with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto and six speakers is standard, too.
In addition, the Zen specification comes with cruise control, front fog lights, a synthetic leather steering wheel, “3D Mountain” upholstery, and comfort front seats.
As the range-topping variant, the Intens gets all of the above as well as high-beam assist, daytime running lights, an electric handbrake, one-touch electric windows, keyless entry and start, ambient lighting, a wireless charger, a 7-inch digital instrument cluster, a foamed instrument panel, a “harmony black” interior with black velvet, and “mosaic motif” upholstery.
Optionally, buyers can also select the upgraded Intens specification pack for an additional R15,000 which further brings a 9.3-inch vertical central display, a rear-view camera, front and rear parking sensors, and 17-inch alloy wheels.
Power
The entire new Renault Clio V range is powered by a 1.0-litre, turbo-petrol engine that offers 74kW and 160Nm.
A five-speed manual transmission handles drive with each model sprinting to 100km/h in 11.8 seconds and reaching a top speed of 187km/h.
Combined fuel consumption for the new Renault is pegged at 5.7l/100km.
