The Mahindra Scorpio moniker returns to the SUV segment in a brand-new avatar, a new generation upgrade with tons of changes to its exterior, interior, powertrain, and features list. The new Mahindra Scorpio-N will interoperate with the current generation Scorpio, which will be rebranded to Mahindra Scorpio Classic. Measuring 4,662 mm in overall length with its wheelbase stretching to 2,750 mm, the new Mahindra Scorpio-N is 206 mm longer than the outgoing model, with its wheelbase hiked by 70 mm. The width also sees growth by 97 mm over the outgoing model, measuring 1,917 mm, however, the height of the new Mahindra Scorpio-N drops by 125 mm, to 1,870 mm.
The new Mahindra Scorpio-N would be introduced in five trims- Z2, Z4, Z6, Z8, and Z8L, the latter equipped with six seats rather than the seven all of the other derivatives have as standard. At the heart, the new Mahindra Scorpio-N offers two engine choices- a 2.0-litre mStallion turbo-petrol that produces 197 bhp and the tried & tested 2.2-litre mHawk turbodiesel rated at 172 bhp. Paired with a 6-speed manual gearbox, torque in both powertrains stands at 370 Nm. Paired to the optional 6-speed automatic, the petrol delivers 380 Nm with the diesel rated at 400 Nm.
Mahindra XUV700
The Mahindra XUV700 is built on a new W601 monocoque platform, measuring 4,695 mm in length, 1,890 mm in width, and 1,755 mm in height. The Mahindra XUV700’s wheelbase is also 50 mm longer at 2,750 mm. Upfront it features a vertical chrome slate grille and Mahindra’s new logo, flanked by LED headlamps and twin C-shaped LED daytime running lights. The SUV comes with sportier alloy wheels, flush-fitting door handles, and flared haunches. The SUV also features wraparound LED taillamps, a sculpted tailgate, and a beefy bumper with silver cladding. While lower variants of the Mahindra XUV700 ride on 17-inch steel or diamond-cut alloy wheels, the range-topping AX7 trim gets a size bigger- 18-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels.
