Skoda introduced its latest addition to its lineup of 5-star vehicles – the 2023 Skoda Kodiaq luxury 4×4. The all-new Kodiaq is available in three variants, Style, Sportline, and L&K.
The base ‘Style’ variant is priced at 37.99 Lakh (ex-showroom, India); the mid-spec ‘SportLine’ variant is priced at 39.39 Lakh (ex-showroom, India), and the top-spec ‘L&K’ variant is priced at 41.39 Lakh (ex-showroom, India). Also, Skoda announced that the allocations for India will be increased to 750 units per Quarter.
While the 2023 Skoda Kodiaq SUV looks identical to its previous version, the rear spoiler has been redesigned for better aerodynamic performance. The SUV has automatic door edge protectors that become visible only when the door is opened, ensuring protection against scratches and dents.
The Skoda Kodiaq SUV sports a 2.0-litre, turbocharged petrol engine (2.0 TSI EVO) with a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission modified to meet the new BS6-6 Phase 2 emissions regulations, resulting in a 4.2% increase in efficiency. Even after the refinement improvements, the SUV can still produce 188bhp and 320 Nm of torque.
The Progressive Steering has also been updated with Skoda’s latest technology, enhancing driver engagement and making the Kodiaq easy to manoeuvre at low and high speeds. In addition to these utile features, Kodiaq introduced first-in-segment Dynamic Chassis Control, elevating the car’s dynamics.
Besides allowing the driver to choose from Eco, Comfort, Normal, Sport, Individual, and Snow driving modes, the DCC system also allows the suspension to be adjusted by 15 mm. It includes an off-road button for improved all-terrain performance.
The interior of this SUV is draped in plush dual-tone leather. Kodiaq offers uncompromised comfort to both front and rear rows. The SportLine variant is driver-oriented and comes with all-black Suedia interiors, a 3-spoke flat-bottom steering wheel, and custom sport seats for better support.
Highlighting features include ventilated and electrically adjustable front seats, a massive 625W Canton music system with 13 speakers, ambient lighting, and many more. Furthermore, the 8-inch infotainment touchscreen unit comes with built-in navigation and wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay support.
The MyŠKODA ConnectED App further enhances connectivity with its salient features. Instrument clusters are digital and are offered in all variants. While the Style variant gets an 8-inch digital instrument cluster, the SportLine and L&K variants get a fully programmable 10.25-inch unit with multiple themes to suit the driver’s needs.
The all-new Kodiaq tops the safety charts scoring 5 stars in NCAP crash tests, with 9 airbags as standard. Additional safety features include automatic dimming headlights, automatic defogging, electronic, mechanical, and hydraulic brake assist, stability control, multi-collision braking and park assist with hands-free parking and a 360-degree camera.
Thoughts: Even though the Skoda Kodiaq falls under the premium category, it caters to every need of a common middle-class Indian, which makes it a perfect high-value luxury family 4×4 SUV.
