- All 2021 units are sold out
- Dealers awaiting new shipment
- Prices could increase
Checks with Mazda dealers have revealed that all 2021 units of the have been sold out here. This hints at the imminent arrival of the updated 2022 Mazda 3.
Back in 2020, the Mazda 3 was given an update in Japan. Some of the changes aren’t relevant to our market like the upgraded Skyactive-X engine and Skyactiv-D oil burner.
Other changes that are likely to make their way here include the retuned suspension to improve ride comfort as well as handling, and the adaptive cruise control that now works at highway speeds, up from 55 km/h previously. The system is also said to be smoother, more akin to a human driver.
The updated Mazda 3 arrived in Australia last November, with similar changes as seen in the Japan market, plus a new exterior colour and equipment updates. Prices have gone up around AUD 200 to AUD 350 depending on variants.
As such, it’s not too far-fetched to expect a slight increase in price when the new 2022 Mazda 3 arrives in Malaysia, especially with our weakening Ringgit.
Currently, the fully-imported (CBU from Japan) Mazda 3 has three variants for both the sedan and hatchback (Liftback), priced identically to each other at:
Mazda 3 – Price in Malaysia | |
---|---|
Variant | Price |
1.5 | RM 137,660* |
2.0 High | RM 145,119* |
2.0 High Plus | RM 154,678* |
*Prices are OTR without insurance, with 50% SST discount.
The 1.5-litre engine produces 118 PS/153 Nm while the 2.0-litre engine makes 162 PS/213 Nm, both engines are paired to a 6-speed automatic transmission.
