We know Mahindra for their reliable workhorses and affordable cars for small families, but not so much for their luxury SUVs. With the new XUV700, Mahindra plans to change all that, and if you're keen, you can order one shortly.
Mahindra is bringing the tech, the power and the comfort to SA with their all-new XUV700 in the second half of November this year! It is said that the XUV 700 SUV has already broken all records for the number of orders on its waiting list in India, which is currently 22 months.
To allow South African customers to get their hands on this new model sooner, the order books will be opening on November 15th.
“We received such overwhelmingly positive feedback from dealers and prospective customers that we have decided to open our order book on 15 November,” says Rajesh Gupta, CEO of Mahindra South Africa. “Customers will have the opportunity to place their orders for the first units to arrive in South Africa and thus avoid any possible delay.”
What can local Mahindra fans look forward to?
The XUV700 will be powered by a cracker of an mSTALLION GDi turbopetrol 2.0-litre 147 kW petrol engine or a diesel 2.2-litre CRDe mHAWK powerplant with 136kW and 450Nm of torque.
Mahindra is offering in-car tech and comfort features never before seen in a locally-available Mahindra, such as the high-definition, dual-screen layout along with an all-digital instrument panel and infotainment system, offering hands-free motoring via Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

Safety is taken care of via seven airbags, autonomous emergency braking, front collision warning, driver drowsiness detection and so forth. The XUV500 received a five-star safety rating for adult occupants and four stars for child safety.
The XUV700 is the reigning Indian Car of the Year at the Autocar Awards. It holds over 14 Car of the Year and Category Awards in various Indian vehicle competitions, making it one of the most-awarded new model launches in the history of the Indian new vehicle market.

Pricing?
I visited the auto.mahindra.com website (Mahindra India) to check out the pricing in Indian Rupees and if you translate it to South African Rands it’s ridiculously inexpensive, but new-car prices in our neck of the woods will undoubtedly be much higher. How much higher, we don’t know yet.
The new XUV700 will compete with 5- and 7-seater SUVs such as the Hyundai Tucson, Hyundai Grand Creta, Kia Sportage, Haval H6 and even the Toyota RAV4.
