Mahindra XUV700 has been performing exceptionally well in the Indian market. It is already a very good looking SUV. Now, an artist has imagined the XUV700 with a widebody kit and we have to say that it looks quite menacing.
The rendering has been done by Amogh Renuse and the pictures are shared on his Instagram page. There are not a lot of changes made to the SUV but they are enough to make the SUV look “bagged”. The fenders are now wider and there are now wider tyres too. The alloy wheels have also been changed to go with the look of the SUV. The artist has also used a Venom decal on the side of the SUV.
XUV700 is a success in the Indian market
Mahindra has been able to deliver 14,000 units of XUV700 since its launch. The manufacturer has gathered 1 lakh bookings for the XUV700. The waiting period for the SUV is around 19 months now. The reason behind such long waiting periods is the semiconductor shortage and huge demand.
Variants
XUV700 is offered in two trims namely, MX and AX. The AX trim gets four variants. There is AX3, AX5, AX7 and AX7L. The MX Trim is the base trim and is offered only with a manual gearbox and as a 5-seater. According to media reports, Mahindra is also working on a new variant called AX7S or AX7 Smart. It will miss out on some features and will help the manufacturer in lowering the waiting periods of the SUV. The AX7 Smart will also be priced lower.
Price and rivals
The prices of XUV700 were recently increased. It now starts at Rs. 12.95 lakhs ex-showroom and goes up to Rs. 23.79 lakhs ex-showroom. XUV700 goes against Tata Safari, MG Hector Plus, Hyundai Alcazar and Kia Carens.
Engine and gearbox
Mahindra offers the XUV700 with a petrol engine as well as a diesel engine. Both are segment-leading engines in terms of refinement and power output. The diesel engine is a 2.2-litre mHawk unit whereas the petrol engine is a 2.0-litre mStallion unit that is turbocharged.
The petrol engine produces 200 PS of max power and 280 Nm of peak torque. It is offered with a 6-speed manual gearbox or a 6-speed torque converter automatic transmission.
Then there is the diesel engine that is sold in two states of tune. The MX trim gets a detune stat of the engine in which it produces 155 PS of max power and 360 Nm. It is offered only with the 6-speed manual gearbox. In the AX trim, the engine produces 185 PS of max power and 420 Nm or 450 Nm of peak torque depending if you get the manual gearbox or the automatic gearbox respectively.
XUV700 is the only SUV to offer AWD
XUV700 is the only SUV in the segment that is offered with an all-wheel-drive powertrain. However, it only comes on the top-spec AX7 and AX7L variants and on the diesel engine with the automatic gearbox. The AWD can help in finding traction in tricky ad slippery situations.
