The Mahindra XUV700 has won the Indian Car of the Year 2022 award. The 17th edition of the ICOTY announced the Indian SUV as the winner, edging out nominees like the Volkswagen Taigun, Tata Punch, Citroen C5 Aircross, Force Gurkha, Maruti Suzuki Celerio, MG Astor, Renault Kiger, Skoda Kushaq and Skoda Octavia.
The ICOTY jury awarded the XUV700 101 points, while the Volkswagen Taigun came in second with 89 points and the Tata Punch scored 71 points for third. Each jury member has 25 points to award, which must be distributed amongst a minimum of five vehicles while designating a clear winner. Winning the award showcases the massive strides the Indian automotive manufacturers have taken in the past few years. The ICOTY symbolises value for money, reliability, design, tech innovation, fuel efficiency, driving appeal and suitability for the Indian market.

Ever since its launch, the Mahindra XUV700 has dominated the Indian market. In just four months, the car has racked up more than one lakh bookings. The car in its top-spec features many unique additions that have helped to keep the appeal of the SUV high like the ADAS system with adaptive cruise control, lane keep assist, lane departure assist and many other features, electrically adjustable front seats, electric flush-fitting door handles, electronic parking brake, driver knee airbag, wireless charging, sunroof and many more.
The car is available with a petrol and a diesel engine, with the latter offered in two states of tune. The 2.0-litre petrol makes 200bhp while the 2.0-litre diesel makes 155bhp or 185bhp depending upon the variant. Transmission options include 6-speed manual and a 6-speed automatic. An optional AWD is also available with the top-spec AX7 L trim. The Mahindra XUV700 is available in MX and AX trim lines, with prices starting at Rs 12.96 lakh for the MX, Rs 15.53 lakh for the AX3, Rs 16.05 lakh for the AX5 and Rs 18.6 lakh for the AX7. The top-spec AX7 Luxury Pack AWD is priced at Rs 23.79 lakh (all prices ex-showroom).
