Mahindra XUV700 deliveries January 2022: Latest updates
Mahindra XUV700 has created quite a buzz in the market ever since it became available for retail here last year. Since Mahindra XUV700 bookings in India opened on 7 October, 2021, there has been immense interest in the SUV, with the company receiving more than 70,000 orders for the car by Diwali 2021. Phew! That is quite a lot of demand, is it not? In view of the ongoing production issues plaguing the global automotive industry, there have been understandable concerns about the company’s ability to keep up with the demand and delivery of XUV700. Well, it seems the company has done a decent job thus far: new reports claim the company has delivered over 14,000 units of the SUV in India thus far.
Given the number of bookings the company has received for the new Mahindra XUV700, the fact that only 14,000 units have been delivered so far may not seem like much. However, we must remind you that the semiconductor chips shortage is an ongoing crisis that has practically crippled production of vehicles. Nonetheless, the home-grown automaker has assured that XUV700’s production has been expanded in order to keep up with the demand.
While the company has not shared any official communication regarding the Mahindra XUV700 waiting period, we hear from the company’s dealers that the waiting period for the SUV currently ranges between six months to about two years, based on the selected variant, etc. No, really. Apparently, XUV700 top-end 7-seater variants, i.e. AX7, command the highest waiting period of all variants — of about two years.
Mahindra XUV700 can be had with either a 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine or a 2.2-litre turbocharged diesel engine. The petrol engine generates 198 bhp with 380 Nm and is available with either a six-speed manual gearbox or a six-speed automatic gearbox. Whereas the diesel engine is offered in two states of tune; a 153 bhp with 360 Nm version for the MX variants and a 182 bhp and 450 Nm iteration for the AX variants. Mahindra XUV700 diesel model’s transmission options are the same as that of the SUV’s petrol engine-powered model, i.e. a choice between a six-speed manual gearbox and a six-speed automatic transmission.
