Mahindra is gearing up to set up a massive new manufacturing facility for its upcoming electric vehicles in the country.
This upcoming state-of-the-art EV manufacturing plant is located in Pune and the automaker is said to be investing an amount of Rs 10,000 Crore into the development of this facility.
Diving into details, this latest investment by Mahindra has already been approved under the Maharashtra Government’s industrial promotion scheme for Electric Vehicles. In fact, Mr Rajesh Jejurikar, the Executive Director of Auto & Farm Sector, Mahindra & Mahindra thanked Maharashtra Government for their continued support.
On top of that, he added that Maharashtra has been the ‘home’ state for Mahindra for the past 70 years and appreciated the state government’s focus on ‘ease-of-doing-business’ and progressive policies. He also added that Maharashtra will become India’s EV hub by attracting more Indian and Foreign Investment in the state.

Earlier, Mahindra revealed two of its electric SUV brands – BE, and XUV. Moreover, it is under these two new electric brands, Mahindra will be looking forward to launching five completely new electric SUVs. This includes XUV.e8, XUV.e9, BE.05, BE.07, and BE.09.
It is worth also mentioning that even though these SUVs come under two different brands, all of these upcoming electric vehicles sport Mahindra’s new Heartcore design philosophy and INGLO platform. Moreover, according to Mahindra, the XUV.e8, XUV.e9, BE.05, and BE.07 will be launched between 2024 and 2026, whereas Mahindra is yet to reveal the tentative launch year for the BE.09 electric SUV.
That being said, the new INGLO platform will be compatible with state-of-the-art features such as augmented reality-enabled heads-up displays, 5G network compatibility, connected car tech, OTA updates, and edge-to-edge screens. On top of that, Mahindra claims that the INGLO platform is a highly optimised architecture with a modular and scalable design.
Thanks to such flexibility, the INGLO platform allows engineers to develop multiple forms of electric SUVs as well. In addition to this, Mahindra has said that the electric SUVs built on the INGLO platform will feature techs such as a semi-active suspension system, dual-pinion high power steering system, and brake-by-wire technology.
Mahindra had previously confirmed that the INGLO platform will support battery capacity up to 80kWh and also capable of fast charging up to 175kW. In fact, Mahindra says, its electric vehicles built on the INGLO platform can charge up to 80 per cent of their capacity in just 30 minutes.
Additionally, Mahindra has claimed that the new electric SUV range comprises both rear-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive layouts. While the rear-wheel drive models claim to have power output up to 228bhp, the more powerful AWD models are said to have power output up to 335bhp.
Thoughts About Mahindra’s Upcoming Electric SUV Manufacturing Plant
With the launch of new-gen electric SUVs from Mahindra, we might be able to witness plenty of changes in the Indian automobile market as other car manufacturers will also start to heavily invest in EV development in India. That being said, such a transition will also require a new type of manufacturing facility and Mahindra’s upcoming EV plant in Pune could be the start of an EV revolution in India.
