Indian carmaker Mahindra has teased the interiors of its upcoming electric SUVs in a video today. Mahindra will reveal three electric SUVs in July.
The teaser video shows off the interior of one of the three electric SUVs teased earlier this year. Like the previous teaser, the new video shows off the design language that will underpin Mahindra’s new electric SUVs.
The interiors of the upcoming electric Mahindra SUVs show off a brand new design which looks to be quite an upgrade over the current offerings. Hogging most of the attention in the teaser video is the massive centre console.
If this unit is anything like the one on the XUV700 then it should play host to two displays, one for the infotainment system and the other for the driver information display.
The infotainment display will be a touchscreen unit in line with the XUV700’s system and is expected to feature Android Auto and Apple CarPlay as standard. The infotainment setup is also expected to feature a host of connected car features keeping in line with current trends in the Indian car market.
In front of the driver’s information display sits a brand new hexagonal steering wheel. This steering wheel is expected to host controls to controls for both the infotainment and driver’s displays.
The teaser video also shows ambient lighting surrounding the driver’s side of the electric SUV. We expect the electric SUVs from Mahindra to feature an identical ambient lighting setup for the front passenger section of the cabin.
Other features seen include some rather large looking chairs for the driver and front passenger which should feature multiple levels of adjustment.
The centre console also plays host to a dial that we expect will be used to change the performance metrics of the upcoming electric sports vehicles from Mahindra. Also present is a massive gear shifter which shows that Mahindra isn’t quite willing to let go of a few things from its current and past design languages.
The cabin looks to be quite spacious and the electric SUV features a large glasshouse which should hopefully ensure better visibility while also adding to the feel of roominess inside the cabin. Adding to the spacious feel of the interiors is what appears to be quite a large sunroof. Whether or not this is a trick of the video or the real thing is something we’ll only get to know when Mahindra unveils the three electric SUV in July 2022.
However, Mahindra does attempt to assure us that what we’re seeing is quite real and not something out of a movie geek’s mind. In the tweet, Mahindra Born Electric states, “This is not sci-fi, this is #BornElectricVision, for real. Step into the future that is #BornExhilarating.”
Thoughts On Mahindra’s Upcoming Electric SUVs
How soon we see these three Born Electric SUVs from Mahindra on the road is currently anyone’s guess. While Mahindra has stated that it will be unveiling the three SUVs in July, the company is also expected to reveal the electric version of the XUV300 in India at around the same time. Whatever, the timeline may be, we really really hope that the result is something that lives up to all the hype being created.
