The Mahindra Scorpio was introduced in the Indian market in 2002.
Mahindra is celebrating a new production milestone as the 9,00,000th Scorpio rolled off its assembly line at Chakan, near Pune.
The Mahindra Scorpio made its debut in 2002. Last year, the carmaker introduced the latest iteration of the popular SUV – ‘Scorpio-N’. Today, it is sold alongside the Scorpio Classic.
The Scorpio-N carries forward the rugged body-on-frame architecture. The SUV comes with two engine options: a 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine with 198 BHP / 380 Nm and a 2.2-litre diesel producing 173 BHP / 400 Nm. Transmission options include a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed automatic.
The Scorpio Classic is powered by a 2.2-litre Gen 2 mHawk diesel engine that produces 130 BHP and 300 Nm. The engine is said to deliver decent low-end torque of 230 Nm @ 1,000 rpm. It is mated to a 6-speed manual transmission.
