Ahead of the launch of the new Scorpio-N later today, Mahindra has given another up close look at its upcoming SUV in a video with design head Pratap Bose explaining the SUV’s design. The new Scorpio-N retains the upright and boxy design that has been a staple of all prior generations with several bolder styling elements being incorporated into the look of the all-new model to make it appear both rugged and modern. Bose said that the new Scorpio-N takes design, interior and tech “to an exponential level” before going into detail on the SUV’s design and some of the features on board.
Bose says that the new Scorpio-N takes the muscle factor to a “whole new level” with the wheel-arches said to have been inspired by the “shoulder of a swimmer”. Other design elements brought out by the video include the C-shaped chrome detailing around the rear quarter window, along with the dual-barrel headlamps, bonnet, LED DRL elements and the prominent grille. Bose referred to the C-shaped design elements as a “sting-like” design. Focusing on the rear, Bose said that the stacked tail-lamp – a signature of the Scorpio had been retained from previous generations. Another element revealed was the dynamic turn signals within the headlamps.
Onto the interior, Bose speaks on the new dual-tone coffee-brown and black leatherette upholstery. He added that the contoured seats would embrace occupants while thigh support was also “awesome”. As with previous details the video gives us a brief look at the AdrenoX infotainment system. Bose also confirms that the new Scorpio-N will get Alexa home to vehicle integration including the option to remote start the engine. From previously revealed details we know that the Scorpio-N will pack in notable features including the 3D Sony sound system first seen on the XUV700, dual zone climate control, wireless phone charging and more.

Engine details still remain unconfirmed for now though the SUV is expected to be offered with a 2.0-litre turbo-petrol and 2.2-litre diesel engine. The units are likely to be in a lower state of tune than in the XUV700 with both expected to get manual and automatic gearbox options. Both engine options are also expected to get four-wheel drive with the system likely to be called “4Xplore” going by the vehicle badging.
