Mahindra salesman insults farmer: Anand Mahindra assures action will be taken
Unless you stayed off the internet last week, there is a strong probability you came across the news about an issue between a Mahindra salesman and a farmer. This incident, which occured in Karnataka, has caused quite a stir: the story goes that the farmer in question visited the Mahindra showroom in Tumkur, Karnataka to enquire about the Bolero SUV. Unfortunately, he was reportedly told off by a salesman; reportedly the salesman questioned the farmer’s ability to afford the Mahindra Bolero SUV which costs about ₹10 lakh. Incensed, the farmer dared the salesman to ensure the car’s delivery within an hour if he (the farmer) comes up with the cash. The farmer, true to his word, turned up at the dealership an hour or so later, with the cash in hand.

Thankfully, this incident has been brought to the notice of Mahindra’s top brass, including Veejay Nakra, chief executive officer at Mahindra & Mahindra Limited, and Anand Mahindra, the automaker’s chairperson. The leadership assured that this is a singular incident and not reflective of the company’s sales culture. Nakra assured that ensuring respect and dignity of all customers is a key part of its customer experience and that the company is investigating the incident.
