Mahindra has now officially confirmed the powertrain options as well as the existence of both 4WD and 2WD variants of the upcoming Mahindra Scorpio N. The information regarding the upcoming Scorpio N was confirmed via Instagram as a reply to a query posted by an Instagram user.
The Instagram user had posted a query that reads “Does it comes 4×4 with manual transmission”. For this, the official Instagram handle of the upcoming Mahindra Scorpio N replied “The All-New Scorpio-N will be offered in a choice of Petrol/Diesel engine options, Manual/Automatic transmission options & 2WD/4WD Drive options.”
Apart from that, the officially revealed images also confirm that the all-wheel-drive version of the upcoming new Mahindra Scorpio N gets both 4-high and 4-low gear ratios along with off-road modes.
According to the earlier leaked documents, the all-wheel-drive system is part of Mahindra’s trademarked ‘4Xplore’ all-wheel-drive system that comes with 4 pre-set modes – Rough, Snow, Mud, and Water.
The leaked documents also reveal that the automaker has equipped the all-wheel-drive version of the upcoming new Mahindra Scorpio N with a lockable rear differential to improve off-road prowess.
Coming to the powertrain options, the leaked documents had earlier revealed that the upcoming new Mahindra Scorpio N SUV comes with one petrol and one diesel engine.
The diesel engine is a 2.2-litre turbocharged unit with 172bhp of peak power and 400Nm of peak torque. However, this engine is limited produce 370Nm of torque in the variant equipped with the manual transmission.
Speaking about transmission, the automatic gearbox in the Mahindra Scorpio N is a 6-speed torque converter gearbox, whereas the manual transmission is a 6-speed unit.
The petrol engine in the upcoming new Mahindra Scorpio N is a 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine that is likely to produce 197bhp of peak and 380Nm of torque. This engine can also be specified with either a 6-speed torque converter gearbox or a 6-speed manual transmission.
According to the leaked owner’s manual, the upcoming Mahindra Scorpio N measures 4,662mm long, 1,917mm wide, 1,870mm tall, and sports a wheelbase of 2,750mm.
The leaked information also confirmed that the upcoming new Mahindra Scorpio N can be specified either with a 2+2+2 or 2+2+3 seating arrangement, where the former gets 50:50 split seats and the latter gets 60:40 split seats.
Mahindra recently revealed the interior images of the upcoming new Scorpio N. These images confirm many features in the upcoming 3-row SUV. Also, the new Mahindra Scorpio N SUV gets very premium-looking Brown and Black leather seats.
The official interior pictures of the upcoming new Mahindra Scorpio N reveal that the SUV will get features such as a large 8-inch touchscreen infotainment unit, dual-zone climate controls, Sony speaker setup, perforated leather seats, a rotary dial for off-road mode selection, electric sunroof and more.
Other than these features, the upcoming Mahindra Scorpio N is expected to come with features such as a wireless charging pad, ventilated seats, connected car tech, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity, multiple USB ports, electric driver seat adjustment and more.
However, unlike the new Mahindra XUV700, the upcoming new Mahindra Scorpio N will not be offered with ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems).
