The new Jetour Traveller SUV was unveiled in China at a Jetour media event. They showed a single car on stage, painted in a cool matte gray shade. The Traveller is a four-wheel drive off-road style SUV, set to launch on the Chinese car market in May.

Jetour is an SUV brand under Chery Automobile, making stylish cars aimed at a young audience. Jetour is expanding fast. The brand sells 13 different SUVs now, including one fully electric. They make so many cars indeed that they use a slider on their website because not all variants fit into the frame. But in any way; 13 cars are not enough. A lot of new stuff is underway. At the event, Jetour came with a preview:
As you can see, Jetour will divide its cars into three series. They categorize these cars by kind and by purpose. On the left: City SUV (城市 SUV) and Household Travel (家庭旅行). In the middle: Light off-road (轻度越野) and Fun Travel (趣野旅行). On the right: Hardcore off-road (硬派越野) and Trendy Travel (潮玩旅行).
We are most interested in the off-road stuff, so let’s have a look at those first. On the left is the new Jetour Traveller, previously known as the T-1. Then the Jetour T1L. This is, as we now know, the long-wheelbase seven-seat variant of the Traveller. It will be launched next year. Then we get the Jetour T-2/T-3. This is a larger and more off-road capable car. Finally, on the right, is the Jetour P-2/P3, a pickup truck variant of the T-2/T-3.
On the SUV side, we see a new sporty version of the Jetour X70, the second-generation Jetour X90, the new Jetour Dasheng, and an upcoming compact crossover called the Jetour X-2.
The Jetour Traveller looks wild. The illuminated JETOUR branding on the grille is super cool. The headlights consist of six separate LED units, and it has additional lights in the bumper. The pillars are painted in black, the same shade as the bumpers and wheel arches. The large mirrors look sturdy enough to survive a crash with a three. And the best: it has handlebars on the hood, just in front of the A-pillar. Inspired by long-range rally cars, and it works very well.
High roof rails on the roof and sidebars below the doors. It has a spare wheel cover at the back.
The Traveller will be available with petrol and PHEV powertrains. There will be two petrol options: a 1.6T+7-speed dual-clutch gearbox and a 2.0T+8-speed automatic gearbox; the plug-in hybrid version will use a 1.5-liter turbocharged engine and an electric motor. All versions get four-wheel drive. Somewhat oddly, Jetour still hasn’t disclosed the exact size of the Traveller. They only say the length is just over 4.8 meters and the wheelbase is just over 2.8 meters.
The steering wheel with a JT Jetour logo. And what a wheel it is, oval-shaped with a flat bottom, two main spokes, and two smaller ones. The leather-suede seats have JT logos too. The center tunnel with a gear selector and a drive-mode selector. There are handles below the center stack. Between the handles is a wireless charging pad.
The rear compartment seems spacious, with lots of legroom and headroom. The orange safety belts are a nice touch.
The Jetour Traveler will have its public debut at next month’s Shanghai Auto Show, with a launch on the Chinese car market scheduled for May. Price will range from 149,800 to 206,800 RMB (21,512 – 29,698 USD).
The rear with an extra large spare wheel cover and a wide brake light on the roof. The rear door is hinged on the left side. All in all a very interesting car. We will update you when we get more details on power and size.
